Spend the night of 28 Oct with Mike, our pirate pub guide. A great way to see old town Charleston. Mike is a great guide -- has a wealth of knowledge on Charleston and also drinking activities! His day time job is with a Local museum. He is very flexible to requests and fills the night with interesting data on drinking locally and world wide. His pirates stories are humorous and always related to our tour and location. We will do this again! A must for a visit of Charleston!

Thank you so much for posting the review. We're glad that you enjoyed the tour and consider a "must-do." Mike is one of 3 guides who do the Pub Stroll. All three are professional historians, and all three work at museums!

We had so much fun on this tour! Great guide with good stories, good company (only 2 couples on this tour), & good beer & a new vodka. We went to 4 or 5 pubs (lost count with the beers & vodka), but no ghost sightings, just stories. Visited a microbrew store that hubby loved, & a quaint liquor store, where I had to buy my first bottle of Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. Our pirate guide Mike was just great & very knowledgeable. One ghost story about the Southend Brewery was pretty good. This was our favorite bar, probably due to them having a great sampler. Each bar had its own charm. I would love to take this company’s ghost tour—next time.

We're so glad that you enjoyed the tour. The Tavern liquor store is great, isn't it? Non-stop liquor sales of one kind or another for over 300 years! Hope you will try one of our other tours :)
Thanks so much for posting the review...

It's amazing how much Southern history revolves around drinking, and its amazing how much more interesting history can be WHILE drinking! Not only does Mike Coker know his history (check out his books on Amazon!) but he knows a whole lot about beer too! We visited Blind Tiger, Griffon, South End, and Tommy Condon's; our very small group (5) made for an intimate, personal, and lively tour. Two of our group were not huge beer drinkers but had a good experience nonetheless. While we've not taken other pub tours in Charleston, this was fantastic and worth repeating! Food was available at any of our stops, though we all snacked at the Griffon--good inexpensive food, neighborly local feel, and a great owner/host/bartender. All highly recommended, on a tour or otherwise!

We're so glad that you enjoyed the tour! Charleston's history through the bottom of a pint glass is fun, but, as you pointed out, you don't have to be a drinker to have fun.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review!

We had a group of 14 for a private pub stroll on September 14. We asked for tour guide Michael Coker based on the recommendations on TripAdvisor. The recommendations were spot on. Mike is a historian with a full time job at a museum. (Some of our group saw him there 2 days later, he gave them a tour and they bought his book). We passed a gentleman on the street and he said "you have the best tour guide in Charleston". We would concur.

We met in a lovely park and Mike took our pictures. We then started strolling to the first bar. It is a stroll not a falling down drunk crawl. Well I guess that depends on how much you have to drink... We eventually made it to 3 bars (Our fav was the Griffin) with Mike regaling our group with fun and interesting stories. Mike did an interactive tale that had our group in stitches.

This is a really fun way to see some of Charleston and learn a bit of history. A home run for our group.
