“Educational and Fun Experience”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

this was a day trip for us. Stopping at the Visitors Center was great because we got discounted adult tickets and very good directions with information. (GPS can get confusing sometimes). Parking was convenient. I was a little taken back with the price of childrens' tickets (visitor center did not have childrens tickets). Grandchildren are 5 and 6-tickets were $20.00 each. Did get AAA discount which helped a little. The children were very excited about the exhibits and displays. Favorite was touching the stingrays. The center tank was awesome and scuba divers were in the tank while we were there so that was quite interesting for the children. Lots of information and very helpful employees with good information and patience in answering children's questions. The location of the Aquarium was fun and interesting as well.

“Enjoyed Our Visit!!!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

My sweetheart and I visited the South Carolina Aquarium on Saturday, 12/29/12. This aquarium is smaller than others I have visited (Georgia Aquarium, Tennessee Aquarium), but it is still very nice. The centerpiece of the aquarium is a 42’ deep; two-story tank for assorted fish, sharks and one very large sea turtle. Also unique to the aquarium is an albino alligator. Several reviews mentioned the price was steep, but I checked prices of other aquariums in the Southeast, and the South Carolina Aquarium prices are in line, and even less than some. Discounted tickets are available at the Charleston Visitor Center, and they also have coupons for discounted parking at the nearby deck. I really don’t mind paying the price of admission, when an organization is giving back to the community through their conservation and rescue efforts. They have numerous programs, including a Sea Turtle Rescue Program, and for an additional $10.00 you can take a behind the scenes tour of the Sea Turtle Hospital. This aquarium may not be as dazzling as some, but it is still worth the visit.

“Oversized kid experience”

The numerous displays were great. Many variety of displays and "environments." The Madagascar display was fun. Seems to be a bit overpriced.

“Overpriced Small Aquarium”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Adult tickets are $25 without the 4D movie. The aquarium is small and focuses mostly on the wildlife found in SC. There are a few birds and mammals (bald eagle, parrot, lemurs), but the fish aren't spectacular. They have one sea turtle and a few small sharks. It's somewhat interesting, but not worth the price. At least the money goes towards rescuing sea turtles and educating people on wildlife.

“Expensive, but fun”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

Very nice aquarium. Lots to see and do, including things for the kids like a touch tank and play areas. Was more expensive than other aquariums we've visited ($30 for each adult!) and seemed a little less organized. Should offer a little more for the money. But still fun. Plan to park in the public deck nearby if you are driving in, which seemed reasonable to us at $5.
