We spent 1 night at King George IV Inn and it was awesome. The lady who welcomed us was delightful and very helpful (tips for good restaurants, reservation of a cab to the airport...). the room was super cut and charming with old fashion decor (we had the impression of living in the early 20's). A real tast of South!
I highly recommend.

Conveniently located for walking throughout the historic district. We had a room on the 2nd floor of the main house with a small porch which was nice for sipping coffee and reading the paper in the morning. The room was nicely appointed although the bathroom was pretty small. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choices from eggs and bacon to yogurt and fruit. Charlene greeted us when we arrived and was a great hostess throughout our stay, giving us advice and places to and sights to see and do. At the end of our stay we had a few hours between checkout time and when we were able to pick up our rental car to continue our journey to Savannah and they graciously locked up our bags for us so we could do some more exploring without having to drag them around. I would definitely come back again for the charm of the room and friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.

We booked for April 2014 last autumn. Needed a particular room to accommodate a physical disability in our family. They made the reservation and then arbitrarily changed the room when our trip drew near. Called it a mistake. OK, bad, but we had lost some of our party and decided to keep all the rooms - one on the first floor and two on the second floor. When we arrived we were given our room on the first floor, and instead of the 2nd floor, our girls were given rooms 7 and 8 - on the 4th floor WITH A SHARED BATH. We had to give up the first floor room to our daughter who had recent hip surgery and take the 4th floor ourselves. We had to leave our luggage in her room because it was too hard to take it all the way up 54 steps. Additionally, you get ONE key per room, which you need to open doors between floors as well. Not a good arrangement unless you are together every minute. The first floor room was next to the breakfast room, and there was a connecting door that had huge gaps so the sound came right through at all hours. This is a pretty place, and the employee who deals with guests, Charlene, is warm and welcoming. Saw little of the owners, who clearly just took our money and took no more interest in us. Oh - you will be told there is off street parking, but it is EXTREMELY limited and you will have to park across the street, which the Inn says they will pay for but do not say how that will happen

Room Tip: do NOT take 1B (noise) nor 7 or 8 with shared bath and quite a climb Very challenging with luggage

Very well located, within walking distance of everything in the historic area. Charlene really runs the B&B and does a great job. There was a different delicious hot dish each morning; cereals, yogurt, juice, coffee are always available. Everything is in the kitchen which doubles as the B&B office. We don't handle stairs well and had requested a ground floor room. It was more like a suite - bedroom with attached sitting room. Free parking in the B&B's private attached lot is much appreciated. Terry and Debra are the owners and were great about providing information in advance of our arrival, particularly about nearby restaurants, especially helpful since we were arriving on a Friday night - enabled me to make reservations online and enroute! We met Debra a couple of times, but Charlene has tons of knowledge about things to do and see. Just be sure to get to Jestine's for a real southern lunch (no reservations, but the line moves quickly).

Great place. I would stay again. I liked that the snacks and beverages were available to us 24/7. We stayed in room 8, which shares a bathroom with room 7. I thought that might be an issue, but it really wasn't. It helped that we were on the 4th floor, so there were no others around to intrude or run into.

Our stay at the King George IV Inn was wonderful. We were there for the Historic Home tours and it happened to be spring break also. The town was packed with visitors and the roads were completely tied up with traffic. The King George was the only place available for our stay. It worked out so great. It is a very comfortable Inn with a very homey feeling. Charlene our host could not have been any better at making us feel like family. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. Since the Inn was built in 1790 expect the floors to be a little sloped and some doors not square but that all adds to the charm. The home made breakfast was so delicious and meeting the other guests and comparing the previous days travels was so exciting. An added benefit is the free parking on the property. Park it and forget it.
The Inn is situated 1/2 block away from the free trolly stop. That is the best way to travel this city of narrow streets and ally ways. Pick up a CARTA Trolly route map/schedule and you are on your way to fun. Once you get to your desired neighborhood you just hop off and walk the neighborhoods. The neighborhoods and houses are awesome. The restaurants are superb. The local people are the most friendly and helpful we have ever met. We will certainly be back to Charleston and stay at the King George IV Inn.

Room Tip: Some larger rooms have kitchenettes. Floor 2 and 3 are quieter. Leave your car at the Inn and use...

Love this place! While visiting our daughter and son in law, we stayed for 4 days at the King George IV Inn. We absolutely loved our room. It had a small kitchen and a beautiful veranda. There were many original pieces and decor from the time period for which it was built. The beautiful 4 poster bed was extremely comfortable and spacious. You felt like you were in a suite. We had room 6 on the third floor. But most of all, the woman in charge, Charlene, was what helped make this B and B like no other. Not only did she do all the breakfast cooking, which by the way was delicious, but she made you feel so welcomed and comfortable. We loved sitting and chatting with Charlene and all the guests during breakfast. The location was right between Meeting and Kings streets. You are within walking distance of all of historic Charleston has to offer. We will definitely be staying there again next year when we visit. :)

Room Tip: We didn't see the rest of the rooms, but I'm sure they are all nice. Just make sure to get...
