“Beautiful Hotel, Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2010

The Planter's Inn Hotel was the height of our vacation to the Carolinas this fall. Charleston was a really interesting city to visit, both to explore its rich history and to take advantage of the unique shopping and amazing restaurants, and Planter's Inn was a perfect location as a base. There's lots to see and do within walking distance, and what you can't walk to is an easy drive. Parking was easy, valet with unlimited in/out privileges and very little waiting, so no problem there. The service was impeccable, we felt pampered the whole time. The room, though, was the best part. Pictures do not do it justice! The furnishings are beautiful, bed is comfortable and georgeous, plenty of space, spotlessly clean, beautiful big bathroom, etc, etc. I could say more, but just go experience it yourself. The price is admittedly more than your basic Motel 6, but oh so worth it, and is in line with similar quality urban hotels without the corporate feel. And call room service for a slice of coconut cake as you settle in for the night - it's delicious.

Never having visited Charleston, my husband and I dove into researching hotels, restaurants and things to see for our annual anniversary trip. Planter's Inn was just what we were looking for! Talking with the hotel about our room preferences, they suggested we stay the historical, original part of the hotel and oh, what an absolutely beautiful room we had waiting for us. Absolutely beautiful linens, window treatments and upholstered antique furniture. Service was splendid and all the staff very helpful in recommending restaurants, carriage tours, etc. We chose the restaurant located in the hotel for our anniversary dinner and could have not been more pleased with our choice. Being a gourmet cook and caterer, I tend to be very critical of food. I will have to say the dinner was truly superb and wait staff extremely professional. We would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to anyone visiting the Charleston area. We will certainly visit again. Charles and Rae Merritt

Spent 2 nights at this wonderful charming boutique hotel. The accommodations were wonderful as well as the staff. The hotel is well worth the price and the staff very attentive. Hats off to the manager. We will definitely look forward to staying in Charleston again at this hotel.

We reserved multiple rooms for our son's wedding weekend in Charleston. I did not see the rooms in the annex, but all of our group's rooms that I saw in the main building were charming, clean and fairly spacious. The front desk and valet personnel were very friendly and helpful, especially Bertha at the front desk. The restaurant is fantastic -- we had both breakfast and dinner there and were very impressed at both meals. You can't beat the location, either. It seemed to be within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go. I would definitely stay here again and again, if I'm lucky enough to be able to return to Charleston.

Great room, giant bathtub, perfectly located in downtown Charleston. Five - star service. Walking distance to many things. Bertha at the front desk was very helpful and so pleasant. When ever I come to Charleston, I know where I'm staying!!

The hotel is lovely, the garden exquisite, the staff gracious. We had a very good time at the inn. However, for a Relais & Chateaux establishment, "little balls" were dropped during our four day stay, and the comments below are intended as constructive criticism. The first room we were shown to, on the ground floor, smelled very strongly of mildew; luckily (for all) another, perfect room was available. Twice during our four day stay the room was not turned down in the afternoon. I would gladly go back, but would try to make sure I was not in a smelly room.

Please accept our apologies for the less than perfect experience, thanks to your remark about the humid smell in that first room, we actually found a leak in a water pipe that was the cause of the issue. It is now fixed. Thank you again for your comment and I can guarantee that your next stay will be perfect.

My boyfriend and I both found this hotel to be perfect for our stay in Charleston. It was in a great location for walking to everything and the southern charm and hospitality was impeccable. We found our room to be very comfortable, clean and quiet. The service was also amazing-everyone we encountered was very polite, professional and knowledgeable. I found the hotel to be decorated beautifully, just as I had imagined and had hoped. The hotel's restuarant was also wonderful- pricey, but absolutely delicious.
I will definintely stay at this hotel again in the future.
