I stayed here for a week before my international transfer. The hotel is very friendly and the rooms are big. Everything was very clean. The location is perfect. It is right in the middle of the historic district. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel was that it had no pool or fitness center in it. You had to go to the hotel next door and use their facilities. Also the only parking service is valet. We had two cars so we ended up trying to find street parking because of the high cost of valet parking. The rack rate for a room here is a bit high but it is one of the best hotels in Charleston.

I reviewed the Planters Inn using TripAdvisor before selecting the Planters Inn for my three day stay in Charleston. It was helpful and generally correct. My room accomodations were excellent (Governor's King). The garden side of the in was very quite. I recommend that as a first request. The restaurant(Peninsula) was quite good and the food was well prepared, but the presentation on the plates was very average. This place was presented as a 4-5 star, but it is not. It does not compare with Napa Valley's "French Laundry" or Virginia's "Inn at Little Washington". It is very good but not a 4-5 star establishment. The service at the Peninsula and Inn was excellent. Anything not found to my satisfaction was immediately corrected. Very little was neglected. A very convenient place to stay and within walking distance to most sites that Charlestion City has to offer!

I was very impressed with the level of service and the accomodations available to us at the Planters Inn in Charleston, S.C.

We went to Charleston for my college reunion. When we arrived on Friday evening, we were enchanted by the real keys the hotel gives guests. We found the lobby to be very quaint with a sitting room off the main room which was at the time serving coffee. The room has some beautiful, soft couches and was very inviting. Also useful in this room was a large book which features the menus of many restaurants around town.
We were helped to our room by a very friendly bellman who showed us how to use the elevator, which is accessable only by room key. When we arrived at our room we realized that it was not the king deluxe we had requested, but rather a queen room. We tried to remedy this at the front desk, they however, could not accomodate us. It was mildly dissapointing, but not enough to spoil our trip.
The room was spacious, had a beautiful rice bed, and lovely sitting area complete with a couch big enough for me to stretch out on. The bathroom was very spacious and the products supplied by the hotel were excellent. We did not have any problems with noise even though this inn is in the middle of the busy tourist district. We had a lovely view of the center courtyard with it`s fountains, brick work and iron tables.
Upon unpacking, we realized we had left a sportcoat and glasses in the cab and did not know the name of the cab company. The front desk staff took it upon themselves to call around to locate them for us. The next day we had the coat and glasses back.
On several occasions we went to the Peninsula Grille the hotel`s restaurant, for drinks. We found them to have an impressive, but pricy wine selection. They also had hugely entertaining bar staff. The combination of good wine and fun people made us repeat customers. Once, we had the staff bring to our room a slice of the famous coconut cake. The service was very fast and the cake was excellent.
Check out is at noon at the Planters Inn, which gave us just enough time to roam the city before we left. Upon check out, we discovered that the Inn comped our room charges because of the room mix-up. We would be hard pressed to stay anyplace else when we come back to Charleston.

We love Charleston and visit often (2-3 times per year) we have stayed in several different inns and this one is my FAVORITE.

We just returned from a romantic 2 night stay at Planter's Inn. We went on the summer package and enjoyed all of it.

The inn is so well kept and quite charming. The staff seemed so friendly and helpful each time we had contact with them.

After reading prior reviews, I was worried about the noise, but the room (315) was QUIET. We slept in both mornings and thanks to the shutters the room was very dark. Such a relaxing treat.

The rooms were tasteful, historic and modern at the same time. LOVELY

We enjoyed an anniversary dinner at Plantation Grill and it was delicious and special. We also enjoyed Hanks, SNOB and Magnolias.

The location (directly across the street from the market) was amazing and we had 24 hour access to the car through the valet (very helpful, nice guys.)

I have no complaints about our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone, but especially couples.

Breakfast at the Plantation Grill was also yummy..homemade granola, fruit, cheeses, pastries and yogurt with juice and coffee. They also have a menu, but we enjoyed the continental so much, we didn't even order.

Great location, staff, restaurant, room and amenities. Top notch!

My husband and 2 daughters age 12 and 15 yrs just returned from our 4 night stay here. We did the 2 night package that included tickets to the aquarium, carriage rides, fort sumter, breakfast, and nathanial russell house. We had a wonderful time. The inn is located in an excellent spot. Easy walk to King street and up and down Meeting street. The buffet breakfast which was included for 2 days was a nice buffet with tons of fruit, cereal, muffins and the best coffee we have had. My husband is Columbian and he has high standards for coffee. If you counted the value of all what was included in the package then the room rate was only 100.00 a night then they gave a discounted rate for the next 2 nights. The inn had so much charm with the parlour where you could have complimentary tea or coffee and read. While I was there I went to Charleston Place to use the business center and found that hotel to be very big and very busy. We had reservations there first, then I saw that Planters Inn was listed in the top 15 inns in the Travel and Leisure magazine so I changed our reservation and I am so glad I did. We did not eat at the restraunt there at the hotel but tons of people were. We did have their famous coconut cake and it was very good. We ate at Jestine's and found that over rated not worth the money and poor service.
