“I loved it!”

I just stayed at this Charming Inn with another girlfriend for a fun girl's weekend--it was everything I hoped it would be...spacious rooms, very well kept, and centrally located in historic Charleston (very close to shopping, great restaurants, and nightlife). The staff there is exceptional. They catered to our every demand. I'd stay there again and again!!

Back from a stay at the Fulton Lane Inn in Charleston with a mixed review.

The location was handy for shopping and walking around the historic district.

The accommodations were nice. The rooms were airy and clean with simple furnishings and linens.

I do have to say, all the nicities fall away when you spend four days in a place and at no point can you have a warm shower, especially when the weather is warm. The staff was lovely, but despite their "checking" on the lack of hot water, truely, four days and three nights with cold water.

If you are looking for a lovely, centrally located place to stay in Charleston, look no further. The rooms are nicely appointed - ours even had a fireplace. Breakfast in the room each morning was so convenient. The wine and cheese tasting each afternoon was the icing on the cake. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. This is a wonderful find and a not to be missed place to stay. Enjoy!!!!!!

The Fulton Lane Inn goes above and beyond what any bed and breakfast is expected to. They worked with my (now) fiance to make his proposal as romantic and perfect as possible. The workers even went to the local wine stores to find my favorite wine for him to have when he proposed. We had gone out for dinner and while we were gone, they turned on the fireplace, had the wine and glasses out, and put rose petals all over the floor and on the bed. Whatever we needed, they were more than happy to do for us. Nothing was too much and everything was done with a smile. The room was beautiful and quaint and very clean. After the proposal, all of the employees stopped us in the entry to see the ring and congratulate us. I felt like they truly cared about making sure our stay was wonderful. I highly recommend this b&b to anyone staying in Charleston!

My husband and I stayed for our anniversary and were thrilled! We had a little mix up with the room when we first arrived and the staff was incredibly helpful. They very quickly got everything fixed and even sent up a bottle of champagne to apologize! We were unsure of where to have dinner, so we asked for suggestions and the staff made a suggestion, the reservtion, and then went as far as to have transportation set up since we didn't want to drive!! Everyone was super nice and went out of the way to help!! The turndown servcice was great and so was the location. The rooms were clean and we loved the jacuzi!

I am usually one that likes the smaller, so called "charming" places to stay. And admittedly, it was a busy week to try and get a hotel room in Charleston, so this hotel was not my first choice by a long stretch. That being said, it's pretty dated. The room definitely needs some new carpet and wallpaper, and the bathroom was straight out of a Holiday Inn, complete with plastic cups. Not real impressive for the $260 a night price. The one good thing I will say is that the desk staff were great - very polite and helpful. Still, didn't make up for the lackluster accommodations.

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews - but found the inn completely charming. The staff was very attentive and courteous. The afternoon wine and morning breakfast were taken in a lovely courtyard setting. The room and bath were clean and comfy. If you're used to trendy, big city hotels with fast internet service, this isn't for you. If you want a stay that is uniquely Charleston, you'll love it!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A romantic hideaway in America’s most enchanting city, The Fulton Lane Inn is private, intimate and exceptionally accommodating. The Fulton Lane Inn surrounds you with the comfort and gracious ambiance of a bygone era. Many of our spacious rooms feature oversized whirlpool baths and luxurious canopied beds, draped with hand strung netting. Other rooms boast cathedral ceilings and several offer fireplaces.Throughout, soaring windows frame captivating vistas of the city's historic skyline, punctuated with the many trademark church spires. The charm and spirit of the Old South live on in this historic inn, built by the family of Confederate blockade runner John Rugheimer. Regarded as the most sophisticated city in America, antebellum Charleston was the cradle of Southern gentility. The proper Charleston home then welcomed summer's casual pace by covering formal furnishings in airy muslin, replacing wool carpets with sisal, and positioning shutters to admit fresh breezes and to provide gentle shade. At the Fulton Lane Inn, that spirit has been beautifully recaptured. Here, light filters softly through louvered shades, casting an inviting glow on lush plants. The patina of fine woods, natural textures and soft pastels invite you to indulge in the simple pleasures of a more gracious time. During your stay, you'll be pampered with complimentary continental breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Our traditional Southern hospitality continues with sherry in the lobby each evening. Of course, our concierge is always at hand to attend to your every need. You're just a mere stroll from the famous harbor, historic homes and attractions. The Fulton Lane Inn is situated just off King Street, tucked away on a pedestrian lane in the heart of the city's famous historic district. The inn is literally surrounded by countless fascinating boutiques, scores of antique shops and elegant restaurants. There are countless ways to enjoy the Fulton Lane Inn. ... more   less
