Located on King St... right in the heart of this historical town.

First of would I recommend? Yes. But I will have to say that while walking around here I saw plenty of intriguing alternatives and we will try somewhere different the next time we visit here. I saw some with outdoor pools and more amenities for about the same rates. Just FYI the King's Court is right next door.

Bottom line this was a nice stay but for $129.99 + parking charges you are paying for the convenience. The rooms at a Fairfield Inn or Hampton Inn are much nicer for a fraction of the cost. It seems everyone who stays around here for a week or more rents a condo or owns timeshares.

The nicest/fanciest hotel in this area here is the Charleston Inn but it runns double the cost of the Fulton.

I originally looked this hotel up at http://hotels.com and now that I am here there are plenty more than what was posted.

Parking: They charge you $12 a day in addition to your rate. It is right behind the hotel and honestly unless you are going to Folly Beach you will not need your car.

Location: It is conveniently located in a block away from Mart St. Excellent location within walking distance from all there is to do here even Ft Sumpter is within a few blocks. There's the market or French Quarters and all the horse carriage rides are all very close.

I now truly understand the difference between an Inn and a hotel in this city. You can barely see this hotel as you drive by. We thought to ourselves "oh my God" this is not what it looked like online BUT...

It is surprisingly very very nice. it is small and personable but with elegance its definately a nice place. The staff here was so friendly and very helpful. The rooms are very nice with high ceilings and beautiful tall windows with great views.

The rooms are a little dated but very nice and clean. The bathroom was okay. The water pressure was just right. I did not care for the lighting. There was none except for the lamps.

There was free wifi access and the rates included a complimentary breakfast and newspaper delivered to your door. But you will not find eggs and bacon on the menu. It is either freshly baked pastries or a healthier choice of bagels, fruits, yogurts, etc...

We had a great experience during this trip and this hotel played a part in it.

I highly recommend staying at the Fulton Lane Inn in Charleston. This is a small and quaint hotel with clean and spacious rooms. Centrally located in the Historic District, the hotel is in the midst of a shopping area where you can find anything from chain stores, designer clothes, boutiques and antique shops. Staying at the Fulton Lane Inn means that you are walking distance to the attractions and many great restaurants that Charleston has to offer. The parking lot is conveniently located directly behind the Inn. There is an additional fee for parking, but the price is reasonable and you will pay for parking almost anywhere you go in Charleston. Besides, since you are close to everything, you really will not have to move your car until you are ready to leave. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and you may choose to have it delivered to your room or you may walk a few steps to a lovely inner courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast and the southern ambiance. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful since it included an assortment of cereals, juice, coffee, fruit, yogart, and a bagel. Besides the breakfast, the Inn offers complimentary coffee in the lobby and in the evening you can enjoy your complimentary Sherry before retiring for the night. Finally, you cannot ask for a nicer staff. In an age where service many times leaves a lot to be desired, the staff at the Fulton was very friendly, helpful, and hospitable; simply delightful. My friends and I are looking forward to returning to Charleston and staying once more at this lovely Inn.

We stayed for two nights and booked the Discover Charleston package. One pair of attraction tickets (we chose Ft Sumter), tour of the Nathaniel Russell House, and a carriage tour (lasted an hour). When we checked in, we found we'd been upgraded to a deluxe king that included a jacuzzi tub. The room had charming decor, although the maid did not appear to clean under the bed regularly (loose change and a magazine that preceded our arrival and was still there when we left). The rest of the room and the bathroom was clean though. There was also a kitchen area with a stove and a fridge.

Instead of the usual breakfast in the lobby, you could order items for a light continental breakfast to be delivered to your room in the morning.

The location was great. We were able to walk to all the attractions from the hotel. If you're a shopper, the hotel is right on King St in the heart of it. The main entrance is down an alley way between two buildings (there is a sign on King near the opening) and parking is available in a public lot available around the block (read your reservation confirmation for specific directions).

The staff at the Inn were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable and it was located in the perfect spot within downtown Charleston. All attractions were within walking distance. We would stay here again during any future trips to the city.

After extensive research I decided on the Fulton Inn. Although expensive it was less expensive than other properties I could find in such a good location. This was a girlfriend trip, the three of us booked a room with 2 queen beds. A roll away bed was brought in but was extremely uncomfortable so my friend left a note with $2 saying so, and thanking the staff for their time. When we came back to the room that afternoon, a regular twin bed with mattress and box springs had been set up and it proved to be very comfortable.
We were pleased with the size of the room and found it to be very quiet.
I would recommend having breakfast brought to your room as we went next door the first morning for the continental breakfast and we were there for 1 1/2 hours waiting to be served cold cereal, bananas, boxed yogurt and bagels. Also a friend of mine left me a message at the front desk and I didn't get it for 24 hours, resulting in not seeing much of my friend.
Parking was convenient and $12 a night.
All in all we had a very nice stay at the Fulton Inn.

We just got back from Charleston. I used TA to book our room at the Fulton Lane Inn. The hotel is an older boutique hotel, but is very well kept. Our room was simple but clean. Well furnished and not crowded. The place is well located to the center of town. It was a short walk to anywhere in the historic district. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We will go back!

Just got back so writing while fresh in my mind. It was a girl's weekend; my friend and I flew in and met up at the airport. We didn't rent a car so can't comment on ease/not of parking. Took the airport shuttle to the Inn for $12/person and taxi back was $18/person. Small lobby area; we were told it's staffed 24/7 when we asked if we had to worry about the front door getting locked. Apparently they do lock it at night but there's always someone there. Wonderfully friendly staff. Wish I could remember all the names. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, younger woman checked us in, we rec'd tasty recommendations for lunch a couple blocks away. We had a 2 queen bed room on the third floor facing the parking lot. When we booked it we were told that was the quiet side compared to the King Street side. It was quiet every night but Friday-there's another hotel/pool area across from the lot and that was noisy for a while, but then got quieter. Room was very large-I imagine there's a variety of room sizes. Sisal (?) rug was great on the feet after a long long day of walking everywhere! Beds were comfy; could have maybe used another dresser and a safe would have been nice but that the only 2 possible improvements. There's a fridge in the bathroom which was handy.

Continental b'fast comprises choices of several boxed cereals, different fruits, juices, pastries-enough to fill you up. The wine/cheese hour at the sister Inn next door was tasty with at least 6 varieties of wines offered along with cheeses, crackers, fresh salsa, or a spread of some sort.

The location was perfect for all the walking we did from Marion Square to the Aquarium to the Battery and back and forth. The best part was how nice all the help was-great suggestions for restaurants, nice people bringing the b'fast and working the wine/cheese events.

Would recommend!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A romantic hideaway in America’s most enchanting city, The Fulton Lane Inn is private, intimate and exceptionally accommodating. The Fulton Lane Inn surrounds you with the comfort and gracious ambiance of a bygone era. Many of our spacious rooms feature oversized whirlpool baths and luxurious canopied beds, draped with hand strung netting. Other rooms boast cathedral ceilings and several offer fireplaces.Throughout, soaring windows frame captivating vistas of the city's historic skyline, punctuated with the many trademark church spires. The charm and spirit of the Old South live on in this historic inn, built by the family of Confederate blockade runner John Rugheimer. Regarded as the most sophisticated city in America, antebellum Charleston was the cradle of Southern gentility. The proper Charleston home then welcomed summer's casual pace by covering formal furnishings in airy muslin, replacing wool carpets with sisal, and positioning shutters to admit fresh breezes and to provide gentle shade. At the Fulton Lane Inn, that spirit has been beautifully recaptured. Here, light filters softly through louvered shades, casting an inviting glow on lush plants. The patina of fine woods, natural textures and soft pastels invite you to indulge in the simple pleasures of a more gracious time. During your stay, you'll be pampered with complimentary continental breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Our traditional Southern hospitality continues with sherry in the lobby each evening. Of course, our concierge is always at hand to attend to your every need. You're just a mere stroll from the famous harbor, historic homes and attractions. The Fulton Lane Inn is situated just off King Street, tucked away on a pedestrian lane in the heart of the city's famous historic district. The inn is literally surrounded by countless fascinating boutiques, scores of antique shops and elegant restaurants. There are countless ways to enjoy the Fulton Lane Inn. ... more   less
