This lovely mansion has been restored with a care that preserves its original
spirit. The rooms are lovely and the bathrooms sumptuous. The breakfast
and 5 o'clock 'cheese & wine' are so much more than one is used to.
In all the effects it is much more than a B&B - more like a small boutique
5 star hotel. But its true secret is its staff: nothing is ever too much and
a everything is always dealt with a smile.

Excellent room, service, and dining. Fifth floor viewing area is great. Stairs to lobby may be a problem for some seniors. Walking to major shopping and historic sites. Circa 1886 restaurant puts on good breakfasts and has $42 three course dinners for guests -- a great value.

Room Tip: great views on fourth floor

this place is thoughtful, elegant, tasteful, and very comfortable. We stayed in the main building (there are 3 rooms in the "east wing"). Our room had tall ceilings and very comfortable furniture.
I will say if you want to delegate things like dinner reservations etc. than the concierge is the way to go. They did a great job for us.
although not cheap, this is a great example of you get what you pay for. Beautiful room, great service and not in the tourist center but near enough to most things that you can walk there.
the young staff make a very concerted effort to help you with anything you need.
They are part of the SLH group which is an endorsement in and of itself as we have never had a bad experience at one.
this is an intimate but not small place (mansion) and the hospitality only adds to its charm.
although they don't brag about it their restaurant is also excellent and the complimentary breakfast is outstanding.....very good danish also!
they have a complete Spa but we did not use it...I have only heard good things about it

Room Tip: I think if you tell them what you want they will place you in the best room for your needs, i.e., lo...

Absolutely gorgeous historic inn/ small hotel. Beautifully restored and decorated. The room was just beautiful. The breakfast each day was delicious and delightful. We also had dinner at the inn's restaurant which was equally great. Terrific staff who were always available and very helpful. Overall just a charming delightful experience.

This is clearly not a hotel for everyone. But, if you think you would enjoy an experience in a historical hotel this would be an excellent choice. The staff could not possibly be warmer as they all exuded "southern hospitality". Our room was comfortable, clean and well decorated. It was a beautiful ten minute stroll to our dinner in the main part of the city and walking through the neighborhood was enjoyable.
The linens and towels were first rate and this very old hotel has plenty of charm. If you decide to stay at the Wentworth, make sure you enjoy their amazing breakfast served in a charming restaurant. This was a very good stay, and my wife and I decided that when we returned to Charleston we would definitely book this wonderful hotel again.

We chose the Wentworth because we wanted to stay in a historical hotel and were not
disappointed! A little off the beaten path, but we like to walk, so it worked out fine. Just loved
the private parking lot, too. The staff could not have been friendlier, making dinner reservations and even remembering our names during our stay. One of the highlights was going up to the cupola and taking in magnificient views of Charleston. Took a bottle of wine and enjoyed the terrific sunset at night. The breakfast that is included is set in the lovely Circa 1886 restaurant on the grounds just a short wlak away, and offers delicious southern choices in a charming setting. Excellent wait staff here, too. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Loved our spacious bathroom. The furnishings are a bit tired, especially the rug runners in the hall, but that may just add to the historical ambience. Still highly recommend!
