We took a long weekend here in June and wow did this place impress! The service is fantastic and I mean this in every sense. People appreciate working here and everyone is so happy. The place is clean and quiet despite being in the heart of the tourist area. The rooms are fantastic. Hard woo floors and antiques adorn the premises throughout.

There is some really great artwork by local artists through the hotel and it is really high quality in a variety of motif. The crown Jewel of the place is the Library restaurant. If you stay here you must eat there it is one of the best meals we have ever had and we eat out frequently at very good restaurants.

All in all I cannot say enough good things about the Vendue and we are planning a return soon

stayed at Vendue inn for the 4th time, love it, great location, great rooms and especially the staff. everyone from the doormen, front desk, restaurant staff to housekeepers. they show you what southern hospitality is all about. had a junior king suite, corner room ,love the bedding(great pillows).most hotels have those hard stiff pillows, not here. they no longer offer free breakfast but the choices they offer are much better and very reasonably price ( had duck confit Provençal,delis.never had duck for bfast before). overall we Love the Vendue will we be back. front desk mgr. Nick couldn't be any nicer. I will always recommend the Vendue! Love it. (they even have free bikes to use)

My mom and I stayed here for a Mother/Daughter weekend in May. We stayed for 3 nights and stayed in the King Suite. The Suite was fantastic. We thought it would just be a room right off the area with the bed, but we were wrong. There were two, separate, large rooms so we could each have our privacy! The fireplace was a nice touch (even in the Spring!) The bathroom was large, but a bit outdated. The rest of the décor was wonderful though and fit in with the style of the inn. The service was great - from check-in, to concierge, to check-out...everyone was friendly, responsive and helpful! We loved the loyalty club where we had free breakfast, wine/cheese reception each day, and milk/cookies at night. The breakfast wasn't just any old hotel breakfast, but was very tasty and fulfilling. You could order right from a menu. I inn is getting rid of this particular program, but I hope they keep something similar as this is what made the inn such a great place to stay. Lastly, the inn is located in a fantastic location...right on the water park with quick walks to most desirable locations (market, tours, restaurants). I would highly recommend the inn to anyone wanting a great location and wonderful service!

I can't see why anyone would want to stay anywhere else in Charleston. The property itself, the service by its staff, the convenience to Charleston historic district, the overall experience...nothing short of outstanding.

Just one quick example of their commitment to service occurred on the day that my wife and I were stranded near the Maritime Center after taking a harbor tour. We had planned to walk back to the hotel but got caught in an afternoon flash flood of nearby streets. We managed to get within a half mile of The Vendue Inn but could go no further and cabs were unavailable. The city had closed off the area. Robbie the concierge did all he could to get us help and, next thing we know... Jerry Kerwin, the Assistant General Manager was calling us from his SUV a couple hundred yards away from us. We waded through a foot of water and made it to him... and he got us safely back to the hotel.

Make sure you check out The Vendue before you make reservations anwhere else. (Oh, by the way, the free use of the "cruiser style" bicycles was another bonus... ideal for getting around the neighborhoods and seeing much more in a few hours than you could ever do by walking.

I love The Vendue!

I can't fault this hotel (some points aside). We stayed in it four nights and had a wonderful time.

The room I was allocated was small and didn't have curtains -- only blinds -- but I was moved to a far more pleasant room with more space. It was in a room across the road from the main hotel, but that didn't matter. The view was uninspiring: it was just a car park, but as it was little used, my room was quiet.

The room was spotless and had all the facilities I needed, including an umbrella, which proved invaluable in the stormy weather during our stay.

The hotel is in the so-called French district, just a few metres from the waterfront, so in terms of location this is as good as it gets. Walk a few yards away from the waterfront and you have a staggering assortment of restaurants, which together constitute some of the finest dining in America. You also have much the prettiest American city, New Orleans excepted, at your fingertips. Walk a few more yards and you get to the market area, which is great fun.

Parking is easy, as there are a couple of parking garages close by. They cost about $14 a night.

The rooms don't have coffee machines, but the hotel leaves out coffee, cookies, and other goodies at suitable times of day. There is a free bottle of water in the room.

The staff are friendly and the reception desk did all that was necessary to help us enjoy our stay. Given that this is the most wonderful city to visit I couldn't have asked for more.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with curtains, if you need the dark for good sleep.

The staff at the Vendue Inn couldn't be better. Unfortunately, the inn itself needs some renovations and maintenance. Our first night was spent in a warm room because the air conditioning wasn't working properly. Since they couldn't fix the problem, we were upgraded to another (larger) room. This was a nice touch but the tile on the floor of the bathroom was cracked and broken. Some money needs to be invested to make this inn all it can be. This includes some soundproofing as you can hear all conversations in the halls and the ice machines being used. The location is great and we enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Vendue Inn for a long weekend. The hotel is in a great location and you can walk to a lot of restaurants, shops, and bars. The room is nice and updated. Not very large. The best thing about Vendue is the service. The staff is very friendly and accomodating, and made us feel at home. The bellman mark was especially friendly and helpful.
