“Charleston Home and Garden Festival”

My Book Club planned this trip after reading "South of Broad"; the Vendue Inn was very comfortable. Hardwood floors, soft linens, jacuzzi tubs and a friendly, helpful staff made our stay pleasant and memorable. We also enjoyed the complimentary bicycles, the afternoon Happy Hour, and cookies and milk at 9 p.m. The rooftop bar was a popular place, with great drinks and a wonderful view of the city. We were able to walk to a riverfront park complete with bench swings, shopping, dining, and of course, the Battery. I will stay here again on my next trip to this beautiful city.

Room Tip: We had a suite with 2 Queen beds, a sitting area, gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub and separate shower. P...

A very cozy inn set in a perfect part of Charleston for exploring the city on foot. The complimentary bicycles also allowed us to venture out for more sightseeing along the waterfront and historic neighborhoods. Staff was friendly (especially breakfast service staff!) & helpful. The concierge - Robbie? - helped us make dinner reservations so that our first night in town was enjoyable. Our room was a bit small and loud on the first night (Saturday night, St. Patrick's Day), but we were expecting that. Great breakfast! Wonderful stay!

The Vendue, right at the Cooper River, is a quiet, very pleasant series of hotel residences built in a very historic bloc of former warehouses. We enjoyed the "old fashionedness" of its decor, the fascinating portraits around on the walls, the quiet (although we were on the street side), the attentiveness and helpfullness of the staff and the charming "manager's happy hour" where we met several very interesting other guests. A trip to the rooftop bar is a "must." Good music most night (although you can't hear it in the guest rooms), cold drinks and a great view of the City, especially at sunset. We were within walking distance of all the restaurants we wanted to eat at, all the sights we wanted to see and all the shopping I (the male) could stand. If you want to eat in the inn's restaurant, it is best to make reservation a day or so ahead. It is very popular! The fireplace in the room was a great place to share a quiet time together when it was nippy outside.

Room Tip: We had what would usually be a room I wouldn't choose (street side) but it surprised me by being...

Couldn't have had a better time, such a sumptuous wonderful old inn! As long-time Charleston residents, we occasionally make a trip back "home" when we grow homesick for that gorgeous old city (the best kept vacation secret in the world!!!). Forget Savannah folks. Charleston is simply the most delightful destination you'll find! Don't miss the Vendue's wonderful breakfast, we had a perfectly situated table overlooking the strollers in the old market, oh sigh,,,, perhaps you can indeed, go home again. If you're looking for a beachfront experience as well, The TIdes at Folly Beach was in a word, fabulous!!!

An excellent location within walking distance of market, battery and major shopping. The Inn is quiet, clean and provides a bevy of extras. Examples are: wine and cheese, sherry in room, milk and cookies, bicycles. The staff was excellent in every respect. Fireplace and tub were fun.
