On our way back to NJ we decided to make a stop at Drayton Hall before we made our trek up I95. We first thought that we would do both Middleton Place and Drayton on the same day but with the heat and humidity Middleton Place (3+ hours) we were not in the mood to hit another plantation. We are sure glad we made time to visit Drayton as the 1-hour tour was perfect. It was not overwhelming, the rooms without furniture were awesome to see and the near-original paint lasting over 300 years was a feat in and amongst itself. The guide was spectacular as she was loaded with knowledge and it was the perfect visit. You can make the visit last as long as 60 minutes or spend half a day exploring the property. It is a magnificent property and worth seeing while in the Charleston area.
