The historic house has been badly treated; the petting zoo and other attractions are tourist-hokey, but the acres and acres of Romantic gardens near the river are amazing and worth a look for anyone who is interested in landscaping, camelias or azeleas, or in thinking about the challenges long-term care and development of gardens.

START with watching the video at orientation theatre or you'll regret it. Then do the train and end at the house for a tour. If it's springtime and the azaleas are blooming make sure you walk the gardens. Not worth it if it's fall. Gators, ducks and turtles welcome you, too!

This plantation is a lovely experience, even in a light rain. We stopped in planning to tour the home, but stayed longer to amble around the lovely grounds. We'll go back.

We went on a pontoon tour guided by Sy (I'm pretty sure that's his name). He did an amazing job covering history, flora, fauna, and other attractions offered at Magnolia. I wasn't in the mood to climb to the top of the lookout tower but I couldn't resist after I heard Sy describe what I may see.

I didn't expect to be so transported to almost another world, feeling so attuned with nature, when our group decided to visit Magnolia. Now I can't wait to return with a blanket and a book and get lost in the beauty.

What a pleasant surprise!!

Spent the whole day on the plantation. Each tour can be done alone or a package deal that saves about $10. We opted to do just the ones we wanted and found them to be very interesting. Probably not the best time of the year to go since the blooming season is over but still pretty and green. Wildlife was pretty well hidden don't know if the weather or timing played a part in this Take the tram tour and house tour for sure and the swamp tour if you don't mind walking
