Owner description: History comes alive as Colonial dressed guides talk about Pirates, Patriots and Presidents! Explore the location where pirates were once held and view a section of the 1698 fortification that once protected the Walled City. Completed in 1771 as the New Exchange and Customs House, recognized today as South Carolina's most historic building. Where Patriots were imprisoned, the Constitution was ratified and George Washington was entertained.

The museum was interesting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our guide to the dungeon was dressed to character the 1800"s time. He was very knowledgable and spoke in a voice that made the adventure exciting and interesting. There were wax figures in the dungeon. The price was only $8 in Oct.2013

We purchased our ticket for the Exchange in conjunction with our ticket for the Slave Mart to save a few dollars. Although not very expensive, the dungeon tour was really neat and the ground floor exhibits were interesting, although somewhat limited. The staff was also very friendly. The only area where it really lacked was upstairs, where there is a huge open space that could easily be utilized for additional exhibits/artifacts, but instead stands mostly empty.

I felt the staff were the friendliest of any we have met in South Carolina. Our guide was a young man that was very knowledgeable, kind and courteous. He answered every question like it was the first time he was asked, even when it was repeated by someone that had joined late. He reminded everyone that pictures were allowed in the dungeon. It was very enjoyable.

As for the dungeon itself, I was expecting more then two rooms. Not that is wasn't worth the money, I just expected more.

It was a nice 90 minutes spent for our group of 3 adults and one 7 year old boy. As for scary, not for a second. I laughed a bit while there, thinking of the reviews warning parents of young children.

I think everyone should go at least once.

Great history in this museum and great guides for part of the museum.
We would definitely go again if in the area. There is so much history
it takes a while to digest. Well worth the time!

Docent was very knowledgeable and friendly (Ben). Dungeon was very interesting! The upstairs rooms have great pieces on display. Some guns, clothing, china, etc. I enjoyed the visit!
