Owner description: History comes alive as Colonial dressed guides talk about Pirates, Patriots and Presidents! Explore the location where pirates were once held and view a section of the 1698 fortification that once protected the Walled City. Completed in 1771 as the New Exchange and Customs House, recognized today as South Carolina's most historic building. Where Patriots were imprisoned, the Constitution was ratified and George Washington was entertained.

Good museum and the dungeon was pretty cool. Was shocked to see how many of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were imprisoned here after the British capture them. Def worth a visit.

This was a nice museum but not very interactive for small kids. We combined our ticket with the Slave Mart Museum to save a few dollars. The Dungeon tour was good but short. Beautiful walk down to the Battery from here.

A re-enactor guided us through the dungeon and the first hundred years of Charleston history, from the city wall to the end of the revolutionary war. The two upper floors of the Old Exchange were self-guided, with costumed interpreters there to answer any questions.
There is a ton of civil war history in Charleston. It was great to get immersed in the revolutionary war years for a little while!

This is a great museum for the price. They have many beautiful artifacts and it is part self-guided and part guided. They also allowed me to bring our small dog in her carrier, which was a huge plus.

Lots of history in 1 building. We had a great tour guide. He answered all our questions. Our group thought the tour was worthwhile.
