“Very Informative”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Great start to our day in Charleston. Had a wonderfully knowledgable guide who told the history of Charleston with tidbits of information not found in history books. Really enjoyed the tour of the Provost. Came away with a better understanding of the history of Charleston and our country. A definite must.

“Surprising highlight of the trip!”
Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

We stumbled across this site by accident, but it ended up being one of thwe highlights. If you are a history buff, go! Our tourguide, Dan, was an absolute treasure - a natural storyteller with a wealth of historical knowledge. The building itself is beautiful, especially getting to see the ruins of the half-moon battery in the basement.

“Inexpensive history lesson”
Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

Nice little tour. About a half an hour of guided tour then some self-guided opportunities. Or guide was a great story teller and had some good revolutionary war stories that aren't in the history books. A little toasty down below in the provost so if you go in winter all bundled up, be warned.

“the only place to see the old sea wall of c-ton”

great history lesson on how the port operated pre-revolutionary war era. the basement is a dungeon and is a wonderful architectural marvel the way the slaves built the ceilings....it's a guided tour and is a little hokie with the mannequins, but you are only down there for 20min....

Thank you for taking time to write. We do have some costumed mannequins in the Dungeon area. These are used for static displays by docents when relating the history of the Old Exchange site. We are looking at reconfiguring their design within the Dungeon in the near future. Hopefully, you enjoyed our docent’s presentation as much as you did the architecture! Appreciate your business. All the best!

“History you can touch.”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Take time to see a very, very, old American historical site. Walk the Ball Room where President Washington was received in the city and danced. See the dungeon and appreciate you didn't spend time there securing our Independence.
