“Grandeur home in historic Charleston”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

This tour included rare antiques, accurate period furnishings and paint colors. The docent was knowledgeable and took extra time to answer all our questions. The gardens were historically accurate - including herb garden for cooking, and included rare rose specimens.

“Short visit for the $10 entry but...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Pleasant, historic house, good docents, nice period furniture and a garden with a cook house out back. All in all, fine but you can't visit too many of these or else you should just send a large check to the historical preservation group and get it over with.

“Revolutionary grandure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013

This house shows a clear distinction between what was considered grand before the Revolution and that some 30 years later. The home is much simpler. No back stairs. There are some fantastic pieces of furniture but unfortunately not original to the home. It does not seem to be a very popular attraction have to ring a bell to get in.

“A little bit of everything.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

The tour of the house was informative and introduced us to some interesting facets of lives in the past. In depth enough to draw you in but quick enough not to bore. I really enjoyed the back garden with the original houses and they even have a modern privy in the old privy house which is a novel experience. The gardens are again lovely, but manageable and enticing enough for the non-botanist.

“Very Informative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

The docent for this historical home was very interesting. The home and furnishings, as well as the gardens helped me see it as it was in the time period and when Washington came to stay. Wonderful tour.
