“Excellent”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

George Washington stayed here for a week and Mr. Heyward signed declaration of independence. Guide's passion and knowledge was EXCEPTIONAL. She was a short lady, but wow, just oozed passion and made it much more than a house visit. My admiration is to whoever finds someone like that. It was just great, that level of enthusiasm first thing on a monday a,m. !!!!

“Interesting early Charleston home”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

This home and tour is interesting for it's pre-civil war history to help understand the early story of Charleston. There is some gorgeous furniture. It's a house George Washington really did stay in. The tour guide was very knowledgable and eager to answer any questions.

“Worth the time”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

This home is located on a quaint street and while not stunning from the street is lovely inside and the gardens in the rear of the home are beautiful and a fine example of old Charleston living. George Washington had stayed in this home and you'll find several portraits of him there. Our tour guide was great and gave a very nice, informative tour.

“Remarkable historic home”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We toured the Heyward-Washington house on museum mile weekend ($25 for admission to 13 homes/museums) & this house is gorgeous!! The house has many of the original antiques/relics from the original family...priceless antiques. Unlike many other homes, the Heyward Washington house was made into a museum years ago and has not been altered by ppl making it into their own home. Unique things about the home include large antique furniture, paintings, & George Washington stayed7-8 nights in the home! If you like historic homes, history, & antiques then you need to check this house museum out.

“Nice historical home and interesting tour”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

It's $10/pp and about an hour and half visit. You start out in the beautiful walled garden and check-out the home kitchen on the grounds. The tour then takes you through the home and its significant rooms. Very cool that George Washington stayed here. The tour guide is very passionate and takes you through a very historical time in Charleston. Then you can visit Poogan's Porch a few blocks away!
