I love the French market in New Orleans and there’s just such a variety of vendors as well as shops selling tea or coffee or small table where you can sit and there are sandwich places. It seems that the Charleston market is only selling sweet grass baskets, pictures and prints of Charleston, fancy bath items and jewelry. There were a couple places to buy jams etc. and Callie’s biscuits is there but just simply doesn’t have the intensity that I was hoping for. You can exit the market several places and go out on the street to look for a place to stop rest and grab something.

We have shopped here many times. There are lots of different items to choose from - some great for souvenirs, some as unique gifts for family and friends, and some cool finds for ourselves. The prices are good and the sellers are all friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit, just give yourself enough time, as there is a lot to look at!!

Loved our morning in the market - lots of great Charleston local crafts. The Sweetgrass weavers are definitely the highlight. Also find the food vendor in the air conditioned, more commercial section with the air fried okra - to due for.

Sweet grass baskets are a lifelong heirloom. Think about the investment.

Plan a few hours!

Wonderful browsing and great conversations with artisans! A must for visitors. Pricing on the most part is high and some “goods” are not necessarily personally crafted.
Still, fun for browsing and chatting!
I purchased a wonderful pearl pinky ring from a gentleman who also offered us tips on St. Lucia! I am keeping his card..

This is a fun place to stroll and find crafts and goods of Charleston. From cookies, jewelry, shoes, souvenirs, basket weavings, this is the place to go. I would arrive before 2:30 or 3 as many start closing up for the day. Morning is a great time to go. Fun place!
