“Commercialized”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

The last time we visited was in 2008 and it seemed very different this time. At times I felt like I was back in the Mall, not the quaint outdoor market it used to be. In my opinion it has been commercialized and lost a lot of personality that made it cool in the beginning. The vendors "no disrespect" seemed repetitive.

“Blocks and Blocks of Shopping.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

Artisans, clothing, food, crafts and the quintessential sweet grass baskets all available. Historic Charleston is represented and worth stopping by. The market is surrounded by interesting shops and restaurants. Pepper Place and the Christmas Shoppe provided two great stops for conversation and shopping. With 190 restaurants in Charleston and only a 4.5 day stay, we'll have to go back to enjoy the various eateries around the market. Other guests at KGIV had only good comments about the places we missed in that locale.

Mostly open air, cool in December. Many basket makers that are very expensive. Unusual items from around the world.

“Cool place for souvenirs and gifts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2012

Sometimes I just don't want to mess with shopping centers and this place has so much to choose from. Great handmade gifts and the spices are wonderful. A must shopping experience.

“More than just a market”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

Great shopping! Love the crafts, handmade baskets.and the great prices on scarfs. There is a shop there called"Heaven Scent".The proprietors are Ausar and Tamatha Kemet. They sell shea butter which is good for many uses(dry skin.blemishes.sunburn,skin cracks.and much more). If you are every at the market,do go buy to test there product.
