“Great location”
Reviewed June 18, 2014 via mobile

Very friendly staff. The bell man Aaron was one of the best. He was extremely helpful in directions and valet. The deskman knew everything. Very helpful. The Inn was in a great place in all directions. Breakfast was kinda of plane, same thing of biscuits and gravy every morning. Plus my girlfriend said the bagel was as hard as a rock. You had to get there early or no seats where available. They also had a wine and cheese hour that was nice. Overall it was a great experience.

This is quite a nice small boutique hotel in fabulous Charleston. We were given a very warm welcome on arrival and the car valet guy and the guy who took us over to our room were unbeatable for hospitality. The beds were very high (I almost needed a step to get up there), however there were a couple of things the hotel could do to improve. Firstly to provide tea and coffee making facilities and a couple of bottles of complimentary water perhaps. The hotel does provide them over in reception, not only are they in a different building though, they're actually over the road! Apparently there are some drinks somewhere in the building we were in but we couldn't find them! Another issue is, I don't recommend you have room 303 as they must start to get breakfast ready at about 5 am and they wake you up dragging the furniture or something heavy around. This process is so noisy, you don't go back to sleep.
The other thing is that the bathroom is tiny and the shower is a bath one with a shower curtain.......no self respecting hotel still uses shower curtains....surely.
However I must say the complementary breakfast was superb and the fresh fruit salad, one of the best I've ever had. The serving staff at breakfast were wonderful and took their time to explain such things as "gravy and biscuits" a southern breakfast delicacy.
The staff on reception were very obliging and helped us with our activities for the day, they made everything so easy. All of the staff we came across were an absolute asset to the hotel and couldn't be better.
While you're in Charleston see Ken Wilkinson who works on the horse and carriage stand just up the road from the hotel (the hotel will supply you with money off vouchers) he is so interesting and knowledgeable on the history of Charleston.

First time visitors to Charleston. We relied on previous reviews and we're not disappointed. Charming, elegant, priced right; caring, concerned staff of knowledgable professionals from checkin to car valet to wait staff all top notch! They recommended restaurants, carriage rides, places of interest all done with an obvious concern to please the customer-smiling, courteous and àlways helpful. It!s easy to get around due to it's prime spot accessing eateries, historical landmarks etc. Overall a big Thanks and Thumbs up for a wonderful experience.

we stayed here for 4 days and it's a great location, very nice rooms and a great breakfast. We also found the staff very helpful . They gave us great advise about local restaurants and also exploring the intracoastal waterway - especially the ACE basin and Hunting Island. WE stayed on.the 4th floor, which is were the terrace is located for breakfast and afternoon wine, and cheese. ASk for a room away from the elevator and it will be quiet.

Room Tip: 4th floor, in the new section which is away from the elevator and terrace

I have stayed in Charleston on 3 other occasions and in 3 other inns, and this was by far my favorite! We were able to walk everywhere, as we were one block north of the market. To get to the US Customs House, 5 minutes. To the Market, 2 minutes. To Bay Street dining, 5 minutes. To the Battery and Rainbow Row, 15 minutes.

We stayed in the building across the street from the lobby and at first I was disappointed. At first it seemed too "modern." Then we opened the door to our room and it was so quaint. The original floors, scuffed up and uneven, were perfect! The period decor, whether authentic or new, didn't really matter because it was a beautiful, charming room. We were in room 301 which was a corner room so the light was fantastic coming in! I loved the flat screen tv on the wall, rather than in a big oversized armoire that you find in many inns. The bathroom was completely modern, which is much appreciated, and didn't detract from the room at all.

The breakfast served each morning was very comprehensive, from biscuits and gravy to a french toast casserole, plus fresh fruit, yogurt and assorted breads and pastries. And it was served on the 4th floor with a big balcony overlooking the market area. A great way to start your day!

Andre and Sandy were very helpful in assisting us with booking tours and dining reservations, and just plain fun to talk to when we came back from a ghost tour!!!

I will stay here again and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great inn in a great location!

Room Tip: Room 301 was great because it was a corner room and had windows on two walls. The outside noise was...

We stayed at the Andrew Pinckney Inn for 5 days when visiting Charleston. The location was very central for historic Charleston, and the staff were fantastic. The staff on reception were always helpful, and able to recommend great restaurtants and places to see. When a tour was cancelled at the last minute they tried to find us an alternative tour and went out of their way to help us have an enjoyable stay.

My friend and I had planned a long overdue "girl's trip" and we were blown away by this elegant, quaint, and charming inn! We LOVED everything about it from the iced lemonade and cucumber water and cookies in the lobby to the lovely and clean rooms. The wine and cheese hour on the gorgeous rooftop area was excellent as well as the unexpected wonderful breakfast served with fresh fruit, various baked egg, grits, cheese, and meat delights as well as so many more items like no other complimentary breakfast we had ever experienced. We were also surprised to learn that the scrumptious eggs dishes are prepared by Sand Pelham, Guest Services Manager.
Speaking of Sandy--he was so kind and helpful giving us so many suggestions regarding tours and restaurants. He was even kind enough to make the reservations for us! The entire staff was so polite and helpful! We loved the size of the inn--just right to allow personal attention that we truly appreciated. When we return to Charleston, we will definitely stay at Andrew Pinckney Inn!

Room Tip: Ours was a corner room and it couldn't have been better!
