Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. I certainly hit a home run when I selected the Andrew Pickney Inn for our stay in Charleston this trip. We had European visitors we were hosting and they were really Wow'ed by the hotel.
Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff and invited to sit down at the desk to complete our check in process. Coffee, lemonade and cookies were offered to my guests while I completed the paperwork. The lobby reminded me of a european style library and had a very comfortable feel. This became our gathering point during our stay.
We had a lot of questions and our attendant was very helpful and made numerous suggestions that we noted and as expected, turned out to be great choices for lunch, dinner and shopping.
The rooms we had were immaculate. All the amenities were there and of high quality from the bed covers to the soaps and shampoos.
The Inn is just a short walk to any of the shops, restaurants and entertainment. The Inn offered parking which was great...........we never had to use the car.
The front desk staff became our best friends and each time I entered, I was greeted by name. They probably got tired of all our questions, but they seemed genuinely enthusiastic at each encounter.
The room included a complimentary breakfast each day. My thoughts usually are this is something I don't really need as there is so much in Charleston to experience. To my surpise, the breakfast was on the fourth floor of the other building, open air with great views of the city.
And breakfast was what it was, an egg dish with potatoes, ham and cheese. Yogurts, danish, biscuts with sausage gravey, juices, coffee and yes, fresh fruit.
The attendant on the roof top was very pleasant and we actually sat for an hour or so just enjoying the fresh air, views and company. A great treat.
My next visit will be with just my wife.............what a great place.

This is our second year staying at the inn and it didn't disappoint. It was just as good as we remembered. Location is perfect, rooms are beautiful (if a bit small), and the breakfast was delicious -- I was hoping for the French Toast bread pudding but it wasn't served either morning we were staying -- guess I'll just have to return next year :) Breakfast on the rooftop each morning was special. Staff is extremely helpful from start to finish.

What a pleasure it is to hear that the Andrew Pinckney Inn is your favorite when visiting Charleston. We look forward to making it three years in a row in 2013. Please mention your special request when booking your next reservation so we may serve our French Toast Bread Pudding at that time. Thank you very much for your patronage.

I will be staying here on my next trip to charleston. Charming accommodations, great staff, clean as a whistle, and very comfy. The nice breakfast on the rooftop terrace is terrific. The location is great and is one block from wonderful Hank's Restaurant.

We have visited Charleston twice this past year and we stayed at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. This is a treasure! Perfect location in walking distance to all shopping, restaurants, and museums. Staff is exceptional and very friendly. Breakfast on the rooftop deck is very memorable and adds a special touch with delicious foods to choose from. Rooms are spotless and we just can't wait to get back there again soon.

Room Tip: We have stayed in several rooms and enjoyed all of them.

This was out first time at the inn, and we were beyond impressed. First, we were given a surprise upgrade into a beautiful suite with a balcony overlooking the market. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed was so comfortable, and the tile shower was great. We were given wonderful advice from all staff regarding restaurants and loved each suggestion. This is our third trip to Charleston ,,,our only regret is we hadn't found this place sooner.
Oh, and the breakfast is served overlooking the city, the balcony is beautiful. I can see that it could get crowded easily, but it was not during our stay.

My husband and I just returned from a brief stay in Charleston and chose the Andrew Pinckney Inn again for our trip. We decided to return to this charming hotel because our first experience was wonderful. While I didn't think that they could improve on the service, they did. The breakfast was hot and delicious, and the server was extremely attentive, going above and beyond to attend to every customer. She never allowed the food to run low like some hotels do. Breakfast is served on the rooftop, which is another plus. The view is too beautiful to miss. The rooms were immaculate and met our needs splendidly. We were literally just steps from the center of Charleston and never moved our car the entire four days. The concierge gave us excellent suggestions for lunch and dinner, all of which we took and were so pleased with every restaurant. The hotel is beautiful, the service is incredible, and the city is right at its door. We will definitely be returning very soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a king bed because these rooms seem/are larger

This hostelry is right in the heart of historic Charleston, not far from the covered market. Our welcoming check-in featured lemonade and freshly baked cookies. The staff could not have been more helpful when we asked for suggestions as to how best spend the all-too-short time we had at our disposal.
