Days Inn Charleston Historic District
Ranked #47 of 62 Hotels in Charleston

You won't find chocolates on your pillow or a mini-bar in the rooms at the Days Inn on Meeting Street, but you will find two things: a superb location for walking anywhere in the historic areas and a price that can't be beat by a long shot. The rooms show some age, but they were always clean and, if (like us) you're spending 90% of your waking time soaking up the sights of the city, the value is great. There's no breakfast offered, but there are plenty of restaurants within a 1 block radius. Parking can be a bit limited at peak seasons, but the hotel has contracted with a nearby lot and will reimburse you if you have to park there. It is definitely on our short list for when we return to that wonderful city.

Room Tip: The hotel is arranged like a huge "E" with 2 floors of rooms opening onto central parking...

The Days Inn in Charleston was great for what we paid. Compared to the other hotels in the area this was the most affordable option. We expected something much worse. Upon arrival the room was clean and comfortable. It obviously is an older hotel with a bit of wear, but we were barely in the room while visiting so it was not an issue. That brings me to location! It is truly a perfect place to stay if you are on a budget. With a large group and two rooms we were able to go and stay as we wished. A bit of a walk from Market Street at night, but not bad! Overall, it was a great value. We would return again if on a budget.

Excellent location for shopping, tours, and lots of good food. Great options for runners wanting a variety of places to run. The rooms are comfortable -- not high end -- but plenty nice, especially for the value you're getting. Beds have good quality linens and mattresses and pillows. It was clean, the staff were all friendly, and the many window boxes with sweet potato vines blowing in the breeze made for a pleasant stay. We'll definitely stay at the Days Inn again.

I chose this hotel for two reasons - cost and location - and was not disappointed in either. Only the bathroom in our room was showing some wear and tear. Friday night we couldn't find room in their lot. We parked in the garage directly across the street and was handed a $20 cash reimbursement upon presentlng our receipt. The restaurant Toast was always very busy; breakfast was good (plan to eat before 9am and you'll have a short wait). From here you can walk to the Market, carriage companies, waterfront park, restaurants, churches and many other historical points of interest.
I am very glad that I ignored the poor reviews written by others. We were content and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Staff were pleasant; our room cleaned promptly. We were there from Wed-Fri.

I like this hotel because it is right downtown, close to market and king street for your bar/club needs and also great restaraunts all within walking distance. The bed was comfortable and pillows great. We had to get new key cards 3 times because the sensor was broke on our door so that was annoying. Also, the meeting room is nasty and dirty and it just looked like a storage closet for the hotel. If you are in town to see the city and not spend time in the room, this place is great for that. Although if you can find anther hotel on meeting or king street for a little bit more and dont mind spending the money, i would do that.

Ended up here because everything in Peninsular Charleston was booked on Fri/Sat in early October (apparently prime season for weddings here). I wasn't expecting great, and if you chopped the rate to $150/night, I probably wouldn't have taken the time to write this review. That being said, could've got a great room accross the river for much less....but would have implied renting a car as everything we were doing was in the historical district.
Speaking off which, the name just kills me....Days Inn Historic District-yeah if the historic theme is kitschy, tiny, dark motel rooms reminescent of "Psycho". Be forwarned!!

We were nervous about staying here after reading some of the reviews. We had a very positive experience. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was average , but very clean. We didn't see any bugs. I felt comfortable enough to let my 1 yr old down to crawl and walk. Our room was on top floor next to alley. Very quiet. Air condition was a little loud, but worked great. No elevator was only drawback. Excellent location. Only took a few minutes to walk to market. About a mile walk to aquarium. We had dinner at the restuarant Toast. Food and service was great. I would very much recommend this hotel. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: 2nd floor next to alley very quiet. Chai's Lounge on King Street is an excellent place to eat...
