“Just Beautiful!”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

The Marriott is a really beautiful hotel with a multilevel patio for enjoying the view. The pool is lovely and has several umbrella tables, and reclining lounge chairs around it for relaxing. There is also a cocktail lounge and a restaurant which is very convenient. The staff were all helpful and friendly. There is plenty of parking and elevators make it convenient. Charleston is just a short jaunt over the bridge, so it was a nice retreat after a day of sightseeing. We used points to stay for free , but it can be a bit pricey when paying. You get what you pay for. The rooms are clean and have a coffee pot.

For my first visit to Charleston, I couldn't have stayed at a better hotel! Everything from the friendly staff, clean rooms, beautiful patio and pool, and amazing view of the harbor, I can't think of one poor thing to say about this hotel! I would recommend hands down to anyone and definitely wouldn't think of staying anywhere else if I ever go back to Charleston.

This is a lovely property on the harbor. Nice pool and broad patio overlooking the yacht club. The staff is very welcoming and helpful.
The rooms are small, but laid out nicely with a loveseat instead of the usual single chair. A continental or ala carte breakfast is offered......average. No other food is available after 10am. There is only one old restaurant walkable. They do have a shuttle to another Marriott. There is also another shuttle to Downtown. However, when you come in after a long day, it would be nice to just get a burger or sandwich. A 5 stool bar is very limited in the evening. With food this would be a great stay.

Thank you for your feedback on food options. We are looking forward to early 2013 when we change to the new Courtyard Refeashing Business Hotel model. We will have a Starbucks and provide great hot cooked to order meals each evening!

We currently have a 24 hour market with fresh sandwiches and fruit prepared in house as well as all the snacks you could wish for. 47 restaurants deliver right to our front desk or room. If you choose not to drive or shuttle the 1.2 miles to our historic district on one of your nights, we can help you!

My wife and I recently planned a vacation in Charleston, S.C. from Sunday, April 15 to Friday, April 20, and we booked our lodging for our stay in Charleston with the Courtyard Marriot Waterfront at 35 Lockwood Drive.  On Wednesday, April 18 we were involved in a car accident which required that our car be put in a local body repair shop, and meaning that our stay in Charleston would have to be extended beyond Friday the 20th.   For how long we had no idea.  The body shop told us that it could be as late as the end of the following week, but could not give us a definite date.
We could not have asked for more compassionate, helpful and professional treatment than that which we received from Julian, Eddie and the rest of the front desk staff at the Courtyard.  In our opinion, they did everything they could to make a stressful situation as stress free as possible for us. In fact our whole experience at the Courtyard was exceptional.  Being there for nine days, we observed the housekeeping staff working tirelessly to make our stay truly a “home away from home.”
We are truly grateful to everyone at Courtyard Charleston Waterfront.

Our anticipation of staying at this hotel based on the proximity to the harbor was great. The photographs of terrece and pool are lovely and we were sucked in instantly. The front desk and lobby area are quite lovely upon entry to the inside. Egress to the parking area and elevator was very convenient.

However, the joy of a lovely room was short lived. The carpet was dirty, towels were super thin, hairdryer that normally is attached to wall was in the closet, the bathtub has an ugly rust stain down the side produced by the metal grab bar, the mattress pad under sheet was so twisted that could not be rearranged, TV was analog making images look cartoonish, balconly tiny, breakfast just OK, AC unit very difficult to adjust and lastly, rooms are very small.

We did not have a good night's sleep because the AC unit was not operating up to speed and the room was very stuffy.

Basically, it was just not clean and if updated, as they claim, they did not get their monies worth.

Over the years my choice of hotels has been Marriott properties as its' reputation for "nice" was strong.
Don't know what has happened however last few I have booked have disappointed. The public rooms are nicer than the hotel rooms and we as consumers have been fooled by that.

Over all, this was a very dissapointing stay. Over the years, I have enjoyed Marriot's detail to comfortable stays but this may be the last.

Room Tip: By pass this property.

Thank you for sharing the good and bad of your experience with us. Our talented staff strives to make every stay a positive memory, during the stay. We are searching high and low for the room with the rusted bar as it doesnt not appear the guest gave us the opportunity to make things right while they were here. It would be our intent to move this guest as soon as possible into a room they felt acceptable. The next step would be to immediately address the concerns so we do not repeat the same experience for valued customers like the readers of Trip Advisor.

Our team want this reviewer to reach out to us. We want him back here to prove we can deliver the experience they deserve! None of us accept a defective product that we purchase. Once discovered, we go right back and return it for what we expected. I know that given the chance we would of gone out of our way to make this right

This is my 3rd visit to this hotel. The front desk staff has always been accommodating and pleasant. There was only one glitch. Their guest services computer was not working so I had to go into thwir back office (really messy...LOL) to print my boarding passes. However, they were nice enough to let me do so.

Room Tip: Corner rooms furtherst away from elevators have the best views and are the most quiet.
