First and last time I will ever go here... I had a Caesar Salad covered in poor tasting Caesar dressing. My friend ordered a Red Pepper Wrap, and received a Chicken and Spinach Wrap. The wrap was thick pizza crust. Tasteless! Her wrap came with chips , The chips came in a bag on her plate! Fries were an additional $2.75. Insane!
As we were leaving there was a Gigantic Palmetto Bug crawling up the wall! We pointed it out to the staff and they blew it off as "these bugs are very common". Common or not they should be outside not in a Restaurant running on the walls!
Never again!

We've been ordering take-out pizza from this Upper Crust for about two years. Always a great pizza with good cheese, nice sausage and best of all, plenty of fresh basil. They have kept a database of phone numbers and pizzas ordered so usually when we call, they pull up our phone number and just ask if we wanted (whatever we ordered last time).

I called in an order this evening and had a much different experience. First, the person on the phone couldn't get our last name correct and didn't seem to know anything about a phone database (which I mentioned to her).

I was told it would be about 25 minutes. My hubby drove over after 15 minutes and found our pizza boxed and ready to go. There was a little problem finding the order since they had misspelled our name and didn't seem to have the order by phone number any more.

When the server opened the box to show our order, the pizza definitely looked different than any prior order. First, there were about 5 little pieces of basil (on a large pizza). The cheese actually looked like some kind of yellow (cheddar?) instead of the normal light colored mozzarella (look at the picture on this page). The pizza also had a shiny look (i.e., greasy).

Hubby requested more basil and brought the took the pizza home. I took one look at the pizza and asked where he had gotten it. It definitely didn't look like any Upper Crust pizza we had ever gotten in the past (crust "over done" as in burnt crust edges, greasy, just not appealing looking) .

As for taste: It wasn't "bad" pizza, but it was not what we expected. The ground sausage was definitely something new. It was greasy (thus coloring the mozzarella orange) and added a lot of salty taste to the pizza. The mozzarella didn't "pull out" like before; we assume because it was a lower brand/quality of cheese.

Something has changed: new ownership or management, perhaps? Or, have they taken steps to reduce the cost of ingredients? It is definitely not the pizza they were serving this time last year.

The next time we have an urge for pizza, we will probably go looking for something new. It would appear that perhaps the Upper Crust may have gone the way of many good restaurants -- building a good reputation and client base, then screwing with the formula (or selling out).

What a shame.

Unless you like soggy and tasteless crust.
The night I went there the place had only one table occupied. There was more staff than customers.

I will be amazed if they stay in business.

This is the second time we've eaten at this establishment and it hasn't disappointed yet! The thin crust pizza is homemade and excellent. - One of the best pizzas we've had. Waitstaff is friendly and offers suggestions. You will not be rushed.
