HH National is in great shape this spring. We have always found this course to be in great shape, and we had another rewarding round of golf again on 2 April. The course is well marshalled, so the pace was very good - about 4 hours and 5 minutes from a mid-morning start.
The cost is reasonable for a good course, but the $8 for range balls is a bit unusual for the price paid for golf, and the $1 for a cup of ice water (no machine available at the starting area) was uncalled for. We will keep coming back for the golf, but avoid the range and bring our own ice water!

This course is great because it has no houses around it. It's just trees and water and nature. The course design itself was a little boring but we still enjoyed our round. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, as the title says. I would definitely recommend playing here if you are in the area, even though I struggled with the Front 9. Did much better on the Back 9. They asked us us to speed up our play at one point but were very friendly and reasonable about it.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent experience at Hilton Head National Golf Club. As you mentioned, HIlton Head National is the only golf course in the area with no houses, villas, condos or hotels attached to the course. Just mother nature at its finest! I'm very glad to hear you found our staff friendly and welcoming. We attempt to treat every guest as a "Member for a Day" even though we are a public access course. I'm happy to hear that our pace of play expecatations were communicated in a friendly manner. We make every effort possible to meet or exceed our guests pace of play expectations.

Course is in great shape!!!! I have played before and it never disappoints me! Greens are full with great smooth roll. Bag boys are real jerks! We played a early round at another course and was eating in the parking lot when bag boy interrupted us trying to get our bags. Can we just be left alone without attitude from this guy. He was a real jerk. When we came in from play, my partner told him he would get his own clubs and the guy replied oh don't worry! Real country club spoiled brat.

Outstanding greens. Even after three days of rain the course was in great condition.
No houses or condos on the course-a big plus. Lots of couples but still a leisurely 4 hour 30 minute round.

Beautiful layout. Very friendly staff. The course is in excellent condition for the mid-Winter months. Signed up as single and was joined with a two-some both days that I played. It was nice to spend time during what would be chilly days in Virginia enjoying company and two great rounds of golf. HH National is just a mile or two off Hilton Head Island but it is well worth the drive even if staying at an Island resort. I signed up through golf.com and was able to get a good price at a prime time.

Thank Annie M
