This was an interesting tour of a gothic style plantation home. Unfortunately much of the original home was burned down in a fire several years ago but the current owners did a good job of restoring the house mostly true to its original time period. The current owners have a really great collection of historical pieces and artifacts, although not all of the pieces coincide with the time period of the house. More information about the time period and specific details about key pieces in the home from the tour guide would be helpful but overall it was an interesting tour. Be sure to make reservations as this is a private residence and only available to tour at set times.

We enjoyed the tour of the Mansion and the historical perspective provided by Kim Poovey, dressed in a lovely turn of the century gown. Kim brought Rose Hill Mansion to life through her wonderful stories, We had the pleasure of meeting the current owners and let them know how much we appreciate their sharing their lovely home with us for a short period of time. As a wonderful end to the tour, we were treated to delectable and delicious snacks and desserts after which we had an opportunity to leisurely browse the gift shop which was brimming with lovely treasures. I highly recommend this tour to everyone. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

This tour is absolutely amazing!. As you enter the mansion, you have the option to purchase a glass of wine and you are allowed to leisurely browse around the various rooms on the first floor and even encouraged to sit on the furniture. Then the group tour began with our docent, Kim Poovey, who was very knowledgeable, entertaining and she answered so many questions. At the end of the 1 hour tour, there was an assortment of delicious refreshments from appetizers to desserts for you in the dining room (all included in the admission to the mansion). We even met the owners of the mansion. A very nice gift shop of homemade items, jewelry, books, baked and canned goods are available. Sit outside on the patio, or on a front porch rocker, or take a look at the beautiful landscape. This is a must do!!!! Be sure to have your camera with you. Enjoy every moment at Rose Hill Mansion!

The sampling of the homemade local foods & beverages following the tour was outstanding. The mansion owners and the catering manager were so graciously hospitable, and the docent was most knowledgable in relating the families' & mansion's history.

It was fascinating to see an antebellum plantation house which was meticulously restored by the owners. It was filled with artifacts and the guide, Joan, was very interesting.
