This gem is just off Bay Street in downtown Beaufort, but you could walk right by without realizing it was there. Look for it and have an excellent meal! My group dined on a Friday night, and as others have noted, quiet conversation is challenging. I didn't find this objectionable, but you find yourself repeating things that didn't get through the first time. Nice, comfortable seating and decor, no TV's, lively bar. Service was perfect. Reservations are accepted for some tables; others are left open. This seemed to work well and may be the best of both worlds.
There are very interesting food, beer and wine choices. The menu is printed daily, so you have to see what temptations are being offered that night. Here are opinions from my group: Lamb shank - excellent; Moroccan beef - excellent; pork shoulder - beautifully presented but bland; winemaker salad - excellent; spinach fettuccine - just OK; basil tomato soup - superb.
