Review of The Point

The Point is laden with gorgeous, stately old mansions built to show prosperity, as well as small cottages and even a couple of (sigh!) ranch style modern houses. For gawking and dreaming, it is a great walk and to mix with a few locals who also are walking or jogging, it can't be beat, since everyone greets or chats! Each road end reveals a stunning view of river or marsh, and here and there are benches for sipping the last of your morning coffee. Gorgeous!

Great place for a stroll while visiting Beaufort. If you miss this neighborhood you will miss a lot. The historical residences are fantastic to see. Enjoy!

Beautiful homes in this area. It's easy to walk around and find your way through this area. It's well worth the walk. Driving though cause you to miss some of the homes, so try walking. You'll see more and enjoy the slow pace of the area.

Antebellum construction, Beaufort-T construction, massive live oaks, resurrection ferns, tidal ponds, children playing on porches or in open green spaces, lawn bowling or community Thanksgiving dinners...you can find it all in The Point in Beaufort's Historic District!

My wife and I spent four days in beautiful and quiet Beaufort. This area is so full of history. Beaufort was occupied by Union forces following the Battle of Port Royal. Chartered in 1711, it is the second-oldest city in South Carolina, behind Charleston. The city is renowned for its scenic location and for maintaining a historic character by preservation of its antebellum architecture.
