My wife and I spent quite a bit of time here during our four-day stop in Beaufort. South Carolina's second-oldest city has a wonderful historic downtown district, anchored by the Chambers Waterfront Park. From here, you can get great views of the Beaufort River, the Woods Memorial Bridge, the western tip of Lady's Island, the eastern side of Port Royal Island, and the northern tip of Paris Island. You can also stroll along or enjoy the swings. The park consist of live oak lined and waterfront walking paths, a children's playground, a pavilion, tables for outdoor dining, several swings overlooking the water, and tons of open green space with breath-taking views of The Beaufort River/ICW. There isn't much to do - but if you have some food from one of the many restaurants along Bay Street, you can sit in the park and eat it (you could even bring a picnic lunch if you like), but it's a great place just to sit and relax.
