So many beautiful homes, so much history. The Federal Cemetery was so evocative. I've never been on a tour during which the tour guide sang. It was beautiful. Than you Evelene!

We went on the Low Country Plantation and Gullah Tour. This is a 3 hour tour that goes out to the sea islands, but seems to have destinations that are variable depending upon the guide or the wants of the tourists. The tour guide did seem to have a good knowledge of Beaufort history, but sometimes their personal history gets mixed up with the local town and country history and just doesn't quite come out right. My wife really liked the tour... and I found it a bit disappointing. There is a lot of drive time. We did not go to Hunting Island or Parris Island like others did, and I don't know why.

We took the van tour to Hunting Island and Parris Island and what a great day it was! Our guide was Eveline who was both informative and entertaining. Climbing the Hunting Island lighthouse is recommended ( for those with good knees and hips) as the view from the top is spectacular. On Parris Island, where the military base is, we had a great lunch in 'Traditions' dining room (all you can eat for $9). After this Eveline took us to the military museum which is well worth a visit. The whole tour lasted 5.1/2 hours so it was time and money well spent.

We took this walking tour on a hot and steamy August afternoon. I recommend doing it late in the day if in town during the summertime. We chose the 4pm tour and it was perfect as the sun wasn't scorching us from above.

Kelly, our tour guide, is a native of Beaufort and is extremely knowledgeable in its history and people. She has a lovely personality and made us feel like we were part of her community, too. She entertained us with stories of what it was like growing up in this small town, community gossip, the good and bad folks of this town, and if she is your tour guide, make sure to ask her to tell you the story about "Myra Deemer." It makes me laugh just thinking about it. ;- )

We strolled by many beautiful homes and gardens and were given detailed information about the different events that took place or the hidden secrets located within.

I really enjoyed walking around the neighborhoods and seeing these homes up close, instead of whizzing by them in a van or car. You could actually stop and smell the roses if you wanted to!

Towards the end of the trip, we made a stop at the Chocolate Tree for a bathroom break and provided with a sweet surprise.

From there, we boarded into the company van and were driven through the National Cemetery and on to Bay Street for the remainder of the tour.

Kelly was an AMAZING guide and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND her if in town.

We took both the ghost tour and the van tour of the town. Both Ashley and Kelly were great guides. These ladies and Evelene were all very accommodating of my son whose main form of mobility is a wheelchair. The guides were knowledgeable about the town and made it a wonderful, entertaining learning experience.
