Southurn Rose Buggy Tours, starting out about 2 to 3 blocks from The Rhett House Inn in the historic area of Beaufort, was a fun, relaxing, informative way to explore Beaufort. We had asked for one of the earliest tours of the morning because of the August heat. It was a great choice. My husband and I were the only ones in the carriage, so it was romantic, as well. Our horse, Paul Newman, is a Belgian Drafthorse and was one of the youngest at Southurn Rose. He has sweet, steady, well cared for, and a bit faster than some of the other horses, so our guide had to swing around one block for an extra pass so she could get all of her info in the 40 min tour(: Our guide was personable and fun. We definitely recommend, especially if a walking tour might be physically difficult.

My family (13 of us) took the horse and buggy tour through Beaufort and it far exceeded my expectations. The tour guide was fantastic, informative and entertaining. It was one of the highlights of our trip. We learned all about the beautiful historic buildings and homes in Beaufort from the Revolutionary War through today. We even learned about the movies filmed in town, where the stars stayed and cute local stories about meeting the famous actors. What a great tour- I would do it again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I stopped in Beaufort for a couple of hours and we were told the best way to see the town was by carriage. We walked down and purchased our tickets for a tour that was starting in 5 minutes. The tour was lead by a knowledgable young woman and a HUGE Belgian horse- the driver expressed a love for the horse that was very nice to me as another horsewoman. We had a great tour and saw lots of gorgeous homes and heard nice little snips of history, and an awesome story about a celebrity who felt her needs outweighed the United States'! Ooh rah Marines! Take this carriage tour- you will enjoy it!

Had our family out from the west coast and treated them to a carriage tour. We had a mix of adults and kids(10,8,6,2). The tour was very informative and so relaxing that our two youngest fell asleep on the tour. It lasted about 45 minutes. Locals can go for free if they bring a paying customer. It does get hot so bring a fan and you will be fine:)

Four of us took the tour one afternoon. There were only ones on the tour so we were not cramped and were able to interact with the guide. Our guide was very knowledgeable of local history. While she did have somewhat of a set script, she was able to stray a little and provide additional information and answer questions. The tour was well worth the $18 ticket.
