Have had 2 excellent dinners at Ella's and have written before, but #3 was a disappointment. Not the food so much - 4 out of 5 items were, again, excellent, altho 3 scallops topped with crabmeat was $34.00. Sent the Shanghai Pork entree back because it was way overcooked. The staff apologized and asked if there was anything else I would like. Once that happens, I don't want anything else, my appetite is gone. So, not that I was looking for any special consideration, but when this has happened in other restaurants, they offer dessert, coffee or an after dinner drink as a way of recognizing disappointment. Maybe they're not accustomed to items being sent back. But they should have a better "recovery" plan.

My wife and I went to Ella's on a vacation. It was probably the best meal we had on the trip. The food was excellent, and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend that anyone should go here if in the area.

Local friends suggested Ella's for a special dining experience. Our group sampled seafood, pasta, and vegetarian entrees & all were delicious.

Part time residents in CT (but a Westerly native!) my husband and I are always happy to try a new restaurant in the area-especially one getting intriguing reviews! We booked a table last night (spur of the moment on a Sat night but later) and were seated (by an adorable and accommodating hostess) in a cozy window table although we arrived a little early! (By the looks of the busy, charming bar we'll head there for a drink first the next time-and there WILL be a next time:)! Most tables still full-couples, small groups and one (quiet) large party of 8 young women-all seemingly enjoying themselves!
Despite a tiny bit of confusion in beginning re: who our server was the entire evening was wonderful! Starting with glasses of wine from their small but representative domestic and imported list we took our time reading the tempting and descriptive menu-very hard to decide!
We each had a salad ("The Parisian" one of the best ever-with a toasted hazelnut vinaigrette and fresh mixed lettuces, thinly sliced French cheese) the other of goat cheese, organic greens and another tasty dressing-along with warm pieces of focaccia. I (the scallop lover) chose one of 2 versions offered-3 large/plump/sweet ones with broiled lump crab on top drizzled with a tiny bit of honey served with bok choy and amazing purple rice over a light apricot sauce-perfectly sized and plated-yum! He chose duck two ways-both well prepared-tender/crispy also with complementary sides. A lovely bottle of reasonably priced pinot gris from WA was a good choice (served nicely chilled in large glasses) -we might have gone for the only OR pinot noir offered but at over $100 we passed!
This is a lovely venue with a knowledgeable, experienced but non-stuffy (hate that!) wait staff, beautiful décor and an upscale but relaxed "foodie" vibe due to a treasure of a chef-owner! The value is definite -how nice to dress up a bit and enjoy a leisurely, local dining experience! Keep up the good work so we may return soon with friends-just save us a table:)!

The quality of the food and the service was outstanding. The price is not overly expensive but not inexpensive either.
