I couldn't agree more! I too went there by boat and anchored on the bay side and decided to wander over to the ocean side - my sentiments were exactly as you say! I had NO idea how beautiful the beach was! I immediately went in the water and jumped the waves. So sandy and secluded.

My husband and I actually discovered Napatree Point by accident on a boat outing one day. We launched our boat from Stonington, CT. and eventually, though the water is shallow in some places, landed at Napatree Point. I explored the shoreline for hours. Seashells of every shape and size! The only people there were boaters so it felt very secluded. I then decided to climb the dune and see what was on the other side. What I did not realize at the time was, the "dune" was actually a bird santuary with a very careful trail across it. I topped the dune and behold in front of me, the most gorgeous beach I had ever seen! Clean blue/green water, beautiful white capped waves and a 2 mile white sand beach with about maybe, 100 people to stretch the two miles! I was in heaven! Turns out Napatree Point is a very special place to go and just disconnect from the world. You can reach Watch Hill, RI if you continue down the beach but that is the only way people can get there besides by boat. I highly recommend this special place for those who can walk long ways and who want to feel like they are on there own private island!
