“Pricey, but luxurious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

We just stayed at Ocean House, and although it was pretty grossly overpriced, we did find it to be extermely luxurious and fancy. Putting price aside, every aspect of our stay was perfect. The receptionists always greeted you by name, and were willing to do everything to make your stay more comfortable. The glass of champagne at check in was also a great perk.

Our room was gorgeous - king sized bed, very clean and modern, and a huge bathroom, bathtub, etc. They also had a nice ipod dock, ipad and other great amenities.

We brought our puppy along (this is a pet friendly hotel), and he had a blast running along the beach every day.

We would highly recommend!!

Room Tip: high floor, if possible. Ask for a room where the bathroom windows open up into the bedroom - it wi...

I absolutely LOVED this hotel and would return in a second. Having been completely torn down and rebuilt to perfection, this hotel looks exactly the same as it did when it was built from the outside......however, the inside is pristine. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and plenty of amenities. The public areas are elegant and comfortable and contain many antiques from the original hotel, which adds to the charm and gives it an old world feel. The spa is definitely a highlight and indoor pool and fitness center are spacious.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are listed as partial ocean view but overlook the parking lot, so be specific on w...

Thank you for joining us at Ocean House. During the demolition, 5,000 artifacts were saved and reused in the new structure. The front desk, lobby fireplace and phone booth are all from the original hotel. The elevator nearest the lobby is MOSTLY original, but for safety and code purposes, the original had to be expanded so panels were added. We are delighted that you appreciate these historical touches. Please visit us again soon.

My husband surprised me with weekend trip for our 37th anniversary to go to Ella's Fine Dining and to stay at this beautiful hotel. Deceptively large on the exterior, the property has about 50 rooms, so book well ahead if you plan to go in busy seasons. We were greeted by staff with a glass of champagne, escorted to our well appointed room by the same person, and asked when we wanted room service. OMG, you mean no rapping at the door at 7:30 am? How civilized! Seasons, the fine dining restaurant in the hotel, was excellent, as was the spa. We even had a view of a Country Music celebrity's new home from our window. What more could we want? While not cheap, we appreciated the fact that we were not nickled and dimed to death for sodas, water, snacks, etc. Each room has its own coffee bar with a K-cup machine. Elegance, style, service, all in one awesome package.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the ocean.

I grew up going to watch hill and seeing this old dilapidated hotel every summer. The recent renovations are the most beautiful I have ever seen. The restaurant is delicious, and the beach views from the rooms can't be beat.

We went off season, had a wonderful stay and hope to go again. On season, it gets very expensive, and Watch Hill gets crazy crowded.

The gym is lovely, although the only caveat, the yoga teacher is a total novice. I'd be surprised if she's certified to teach. Ocean house management, take note.

Room Tip: Go off season and check their website for winter warmer specials!

Terrific property and team that provided first class facilities and service at every turn. Had an amazing time and was very well cared for. Food was delicious and the wine recommendations perfect. Will return again with my wife and know she will love it too. Bravo Ocean House!

This was my first visit to the Ocean House and there are SO many nice things about it. They go out of their way to provide service beginning when you drive up for valet parking. They include a resort fee to your room rate each night so you do not need to tip anyone. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious. They supply Molton Brown products in the bathroom. Towels are plush. Shower pressure is great. Bed was super comfortable.

Nice gym - lots of cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, aerobics room with 2 spin bikes and lots of other equipment. Cold bottled water, cold towels.

The room refrigerator is stocked with free bottled water and sodas. There are also free goldfish, snacks, and jelly bellies.

They also left a treat each night with turndown service.
When they brought my car up, they had two cold bottles of water in it.

I was here for business meetings so we had breakfast and lunch and 2 dinners provided by the hotel. Food was very good. Breakfasts were the best.

Lots of wonderful places to sit and relax - lots of places. Easy access to the beach.

Wireless internet was slow at times but was included in the room rate.

So why didn't I give them an excellent rating....I had engineering in my room 3-4 times trying to get the temperature cooler. I finally ended up opening up the windows (they open about 4 inches). The thermostat was set to 60 but it never got cool in the room even though the fan blew continuously while I was here.

Also, when the guest relations person escorted me to my room she asked me what time I wanted my turn down service each night. The first night I was out for several hours but I never got the turndown service.

We are truly sorry for the mechanical issues with the temperature control and how that diminished your experience. We work very hard to minimize these kinds of issues as we understand how it takes away from our guests’ experience.

This is a gorgeous property right on Block Island Sound with five-star service and outstanding accommodations. I was upgraded to a view room and there was not a false note during my three-night stay. The indoor lap pool was fantastic, and the spa facility was well maintained and quite luxurious.
I was there during the spring off-season, so the hotel was not full. I would recommend that time of year if you enjoy peace and quiet and no crowds. The staff said that it was quite a different picture during the busy summer months. A long walk out Napatree Point was a highlight of my visit, with osprey nests and a long sandy beach to stroll on. There is a lighthouse just a few minutes away by foot as well.
The chef's counter tasting menu in Seasons restaurant was a unique and dazzling experience. I had contacted the hotel in advance about the possibility of a vegetarian meal, and the chef and his team went out of their way to accommodate me. It was marvelous to sit at the counter overlooking the kitchen, and the chefs all chatted with me and described the dishes and their work. It was definitely worth the price, and I would also recommend the wine pairings with the courses, which were very unusual and well chosen.
This is a beautifully managed place with well-trained employees and careful attention to detail. If you want to splurge for a night or two, this is a great place to do it.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade if possible, with an ocean view. Because I was there in the off-season, this was...
