Busy but worth the wait. Original food, high quality. I recommend the omelet with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and goat cheese.

We went to The Sunnyside for breakfast while visiting Rhode Island. It is tucked away on the water - our GPS had trouble finding it! Once you get in the vicinity - just go by the address if you have trouble. Very cute, bright place but pretty small. They had additional seating on the patio with propane heaters but it was still pretty chilly out for that. Definitely on the pricier side but worth it. I had a huge stack of blueberry pancakes that was just about perfect. Not your normal breakfast place, though. Most dishes are unique. While we waited, they brought out some cornbread and homemade jam to munch on. Very good!

Sunnyside is the 'daytime' side of Tav Vinos. After reading a write up in the local paper, we thought this would be a great place for breakfast or lunch. we decided to eat inside because it was a bit cool (in the low 60's). The outdoor section is now completely under cover for those who wish to know...
We went in for an early lunch (11:30am) on a Wednesday, so it was before the rush started. Our waitress was very inattentive. We could see the two waitresses chatting most of the time in the coffee service area instead of working.
They start you off with a little taste of lemon-almond bread and some nice preserves - but the empty plates and serving dish were never removed until after we finished our lunch.
I had the lunch fritatta (mushroom & leek). This was hot and tasty, and came with toast (the multi-grain bread was a good choice) and a mixed greens salad (greens only) with vinaigrette dressing. I would have preferred this with some fresh fruit - the greens just weren't the right accompaniment.
My husband tried the chourico quesadilla with avocado. He said it was "OK" but definitely not worth the $12 price. It was loaded with onions (this was not disclosed on the menu).
We did not have any drinks or coffee (I'm sorry, but $3.75 for a cup of brewed coffee is pretentious) - instead we stopped by our favorite place in Tiverton - Coastal Roasters- for some coffee later.
There were many flies everywhere- I know they are difficult to control when a restaurant is open to the outdoors, but it made it feel less clean. My husband saw the cook put a fresh tomato onto the pin that they use for the order checks - and then take it off when the waitress brought some orders over, and he then watched to make sure that that tomato was not in either of our meals...
We won't be back. In general we found this restaurant too pretentious without delivering the quality of food or service we expected based on the reviews we read.

Sunnyside has become a local favorite for breakfast and lunch. We go several times a month, usually for breakfast, and usually on weekdays. The menu is creative, interesting, and always good, with two or three daily specials always available. The food is beautifully prepared, and always unique - go elsewhere if you are only looking for two eggs with bacon. Lunch menu is equally interesting, and always has something new to try. The staff sometimes has trouble keeping up with the volume of guests, and weekends can be busy, requiring a wait. But there aren't many places with a better view, so the wait time goes fast. The owner and Chef Joe Simone is directly involved in the cooking and service, and he does a great job. Prices are a little high, but always worth it. A great place to meet friends for a breakfast or lunch.

Stopped in for a ladies lunch and throughly enjoyed the view and food. The only complaint was that they need more umbrellas as it got a little toasty in the sun. Both salads and sandwiches had a new twist and were very tasty. Prices are a little high for lunch, but we did enjoy our visit.
