“The best Italian outside of Federal Hill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

We've been to D Carlo four times, I don't know why I never reviewed it. It is our go to place for Italian outside of Federal Hill. Don't be put off by the hamburger and fries picture, I'm not sure they even have it on their dinner menu. This is an upscale Italian menu of creative pasta dishes and meat dishes.

We've had something different each time. Our favorite appetizer so far is the meat and cheese plate, more than enough for two and probably enough for four, it is quite reasonably priced for the variety and quantity of meats and cheeses. It's harder to name a favorite entree, though last time I got the spinach pasta with mushrooms and italian sausage on the waiter's recommendation which I definitely will have again.

Service is near impeccable and quite attentive. They all know the wine list and menu quite well, so I trust their recommendations on both. The atmosphere is classy and even when crowded you are far enough apart from other tables to have privacy. This will continue to be our go to place for Italian outside of Federal Hill for many years.

The service staff is great, they have a fantastic bar and the food is as good as any you will find anywhere. There is always an interesting special and you will find the staff will accommodate your requests if at all possible. Don't hesitate to try this place!!!

“Great food, Great service, Great value for your $”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We've been dining at D Carlo since they opened. We probably go at least once a month. If you know the difference between "getting something to eat" and a "dining expierence" this is the place for you. The owners and staff are warm and welcoming, the decor is very nice and it is always clean. It makes you feel comfortable like home. The waiters are trained professionals, always helpful and they never rush you. The dinners are creative, as good as any 5 star restaurant I've been to. They prove you don't need to travel into Providence or Boston for fine dining. You don't need to get all dressed up, casual will do but a suit and necktie isn't out of place either. The star of the show here is the food. If you can't make up your mind let the waiter suggest something. I've never been disappointed and I've dined there at least 50 times. The overnight braised beef short rib is one of my favorites, the tuna is fantastic and the filet mignon is cut and cooked to perfection. Great wine list, very good martinis. The only problem I have is trying to save room for dessert. It's not cheap, but it's a great value for the money spent and cheaper than dining in Providence. They change the menu for summer and winter and it's always good. This is Rick & Lisa and we approve this message...

“Good Italian food with nice service if you are nearby.”

Good service and selection of Italian food if you are around this area. We found prices a little too high, though.

“Nice Italian surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2012 via mobile

There is not much to choose from in the area close to the hotel, so I decided to try D Carlo out. I had the veal parmigiana which was fantastic. It was a large piece of veal which was cooked perfectly. The sauce was excellent and very flavorful. The penne was cooked well. The o.ly negative was the bread which was served with a spicy oil. Fresh grated cheese and some balsamic vinegar would be preferred. Overall though, I would definitely return.
