My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Escobar's Farmhouse Inn after attending a family party in Portsmouth. We chose the inn based on it's proximity to the party. Little did we know that we would discover a place that we look forward to returning to again.
The inn is warm, inviting, and beautifully decorated. It is filled with an eclectic mix of furniture, fabric, books, lamps, and art., Everywhere you look, their is a new discovery!
We stayed in the Walter Room. It was spacious, clean, colorful, and comfortable.
The highlight of the visit was Stuart's amazing gourmet breakfast! The guests sat in the open kitchen enjoying pastries, juice, yogurt, tea, coffee, fruit, and lively conversation as he worked his magic by the stove, preparing the main course. In this relaxed, friendly setting, it was easy to forget that you were with strangers. When the main breakfast was served, we all gathered at the dining room table. My husband and I are both well-traveled and Stuart's breakfast definitely ranks on our "short list" of outstanding culinary delights!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Escobar's Farmhouse Inn.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- A beautiful Country Inn offering hometown hospitality and tranquility to our guests. A restored turn of the century farmhouse, which once served as the fellowship hall and classrooms of The Founder's Memorial Baptist Church from 1959 until 2001. The adjacent building on the property originally served as a barn and was converted into a sanctuary. The house, church and land were purchased by Louis & Jane Escobar in 2001 and fully renovated to function as an Inn during 2009. Our door was graciously opened to the public in June of 2010. Our four guestrooms are unique from each other and all offer private baths. Situated on 3 acres of property and directly "across the way" from the Escobar's working dairy farm. The award-winning dairy farm is located on Middle Road, just behind the Inn, and has been a fully operational dairy farm since 1937. Milking of the cows occurs twice a day, every day at 6:00-8:00 am and 4:30-6:30 pm. All of our guests are cordially invited to wander over to meet owner Louis & his wife Jane, all the farm hands, as well as the cows, heifers and calves! During the months of September & October, you can visit our Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch! The Innkeeper Dawn, who is a native of Portsmouth with strong family roots, will greet you with warmth and unparalleled knowledge of the local landscape. A complimentary full, country breakfast is served each morning, so bring your appetite! Relaxed comfort awaits you at Escobar's Farmhouse Inn - We love the area, we love our Inn, and we'd love to welcome you to what will hopefully become your new 'Home away from Home'! ... more less
