“wonderful hands on experience with local animals”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

This place is a wonderful experience. You get up close and hands on with all types of local marine life. Hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs, flounder, and you can even pet a shark. There are many kinds of sea horses, lobsters and fish to look at. It is very small and inexpensive and my boys have a great time whenever we go!! It beats the big prices and crowds of the big aquariums!

“Great fun on a rainy day”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

We recently went to Biomes in North Kingstown with the kids and had an awesome time. The facility contains fish and other aquatic creatures all local to Narragansett Bay, most caught by the staff. Since it's a small facility, you can get right up to the tanks and see the animals, and several of the tanks allow you to handle the smaller creatures.

The facility is pretty small (although they should be moving to a larger space in the near future) but the kids, aged 12-19, were all capitvated. Feeding the small sharks was a definite highlight of the visit and not to be missed. I would guess that families with younger kids would enjoy it even more. The owner is a great host, very knowledgable and happily answers all questions about his center and the animals.

All in all, a great way to spend an hour or so if you're looking for a non-beach attraction in South County.
