We took the ferry to Block Island for the day. The trip takes 55 minutes one way. There is a faster ferry that takes 30 minutes and costs more. The ride was comfortable and relaxing. We had to pay $10 to park our car for the day. We also brought our bikes on the ferry and there was a $3 charge per bicycle. That saved us a lot of money versus renting bicycles on the island. Many people rent mopeds on the island to get around. If you are athletic, it is easy to ride the bikes on Block Island. To ride to the North Lighthouse is about 4 miles and mostly flat with slight hills. To ride to the South Lighthouse and Bluffs there is a 5 mile loop, it is hilly but worth the ride as the view was fantastic. Cute island that has authentic New England charm. There are shops and restaurants in town at the ferry dock. There is also a salt marsh/lake in the middle of the island where you can rent kayaks. There are many hotels on the island if you want to stay a few days. When you get off the ferry there is a visitor center for information and there are restroom facilities. There are also restroom facilities on the ferry boat. You have the option to sit on the upper deck for outdoor seating or on the inside for more comfortable seating not in the sun.

Great trip to and from BI. Had no problem buying tickets about 20 min. before the ferry was scheduled to leave.

If you are looking for a great day trip with your family or friends consider Block Island. We took the traditional ferry from Point Judith, just a one hour trip, comfortable and fun. Bring your bike, sun screen and a sense of adventure. You will love it.

Took the high speed ferry from Point Judith to Block Island.

What can I say about a ferry ride. Left right on time, much predicated as we had people waiting for us on the island.

Comfortable, felt safe. Boarding was easy.

Ticketing process was easy as we bought our tickets right at the ferry station.

Plenty of parking at $10 a day.

Took the new high speed ferry to Block Island from Newport. What a treat! It is one hour and fifteen minutes from Newport to B I. Plenty to do there for the day and then a great ride back. Conveniently docked at Perrotti Park right on America's Cup Ave in Newport. A great way to spend a day with or without kids. The boat is new and spotless with a very personable crew.
