A beautiful lighthouse perched at the very tip of Narragansett. Lovely area to take photos! Has a great history to it, too. Worth a visit if you're in town.

Point Judith Lighthouse is a beautiful place to visit. The lighthouse, originally built in 1810, has a rich history in this area due to its location and significance over the years. The are is definitely a Kodak-moment type of place. You cannot always get access to the actual lighthouse, but you can get relatively close and get some great photos. The US Coast Guard has a base adjacent to the lighthouse. Recently a national commercial used The Point Judith Lighthouse as the beautiful backdrop for their ad. Sunrise is a particularly beautiful time to visit here. Nearby is Camp Cronin where you can walk out on the jetty for more great lighthouse and ocean views. Just up the road (Ocean Rd) is Aunt Carrie's restaurant where (in the summer) you can grab some delicious clam cakes to go and head to the lighthouse or beach. If you are visiting Narragansett - any time of year - this scenic spot is worth a visit.

It's fun to get chowder & clamcakes from Aunt Carrie's then sit at the pretty park next to the lighthouse. Gorgeous ocean view and many waves for the surfers. Look to the right and Block Island can be seen in the distance.

Loved this area. Beaches were nice but lots of jelly fish. Hurricane was approaching. Loved the food, the area, restaurants and ice cream.

Point Judith light station is US government property and is an active aid to navigation. It houses US Coast Guard families and if the gates are open, you can walk onto the light station, now (2012), under the Department of Homeland Security. There are no restaurants or toilet facilities. There is plenty of parking. It's just a place to sit by the open Atlantic.
