Owner description: Long flat beach, ideal for surfing.

This beach must be the cleanest beach in the north east. The sand was soft and the ocean was full of beautiful green and blue colors.
I really enjoyed it and would go back again

Beach ok but facilities not great..there is a section middle of beach sectioned off for surfing and boogie boards which doesn't make alot of sense since swimmers on both sides are constantly going into the area and lifeguards getting irrate. Bring your own chairs, umbrellas as none for rent at beach.

I visited Narragansett Town Beach on August 12 with a group of four young teens. Everyone had a great time and the kids had fun boogy boarding all day. The sand was clean and soft. The water was 72 degrees, clear, and no jelly fish in sight! The beach has a small section that is dedicated to surfing, so no worries about getting run over by surfers if you'd rather swim. The beach was quite crowded on a Friday, but we still had enough room to set up our sun shelter and chairs.

We brought food, but there is a snack bar with typical burger and fry fare. Most importantly, Del's Frozen Lemonade is available at the pavillion :-)

Parking was $10 in the south lot, but sometimes the lot is closed to those who don't have a season pass. The parking situation varies daily, sometimes hourly. In addition to a parking fee, there is a fee of $6.00 per person to use the beach.

I'm giving the beach four stars instead of five is because of the parking situation. The surf can be strong, so I would recommend Roger Wheeler State Beach for those who prefer more sedate waves. I would recommend Second Beach in Middletown to those who perfer a beach with a more natural setting.

It is a nice beach for RI.. It is not as nice as Newport or CHarlestown breachway but it has a lot of shops across the street and restaurants... The water is cold until about August and usually very crowded.

Bring beach chairs - but this beach was breathtaking. The kids loved it and they had a terrific surf.
