“Great beach, good location, horrible summer traffic.”
Reviewed March 20, 2012

If you are looking for a summer rental Narragansett is a fantastic pick. The beach is however super crowded and a little pricey. If you don't mind the people or traffic then this is the best pick as well. Great lunch places, shops, and hotels within walking distance. If you'd rather shy away from the craziness you could try renting in Misquamicut (Westerly) instead or day tripping to Matunick or Wickford.

“Gorgeous beach, great for surfing”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

Narragansett Beach is picture perfect with a view of the majestic Towers to the south and a view of the bridges to the north. All year 'round you'll find surfers here -- this beach has great waves and people drive a long way just to surf here. To the north of the surfer area is a pretty stretch of beach that extends to the mouth of the Narrow River. It's a great beach to take walks on - especially at night when it's quiet and you can see the lights of the Newport Bridge twinkling in the distance. It's also stunning to be there at sunrise. Since Narragansett Beach is owned by the Town, it will cost you money to visit during the summer - this is the one downside. The beach is a big income generator for Narragansett and they depend on the money they take in for admission and parking. You can buy a resident or a non-resident beach pass for an annual fee. Or you can pay daily to enter. You will also have to pay to park in one of their lots, or try to find a free parking spot on the street -- which is hard to do in the summer if you don't show up early. The beach has a pavilion with showers and bathrooms as well as a snack bar. Narragansett Beach is free to the public from mid-September through early June, but keep in mind that no lifeguards are on duty unless it's summer time. If you're in Narragansett, take the time to visit this beach. Even if you don't go down on the sand, there is a long, beautiful seawall you can sit on to enjoy the lovely view. Narragansett beach is one of Rhode Island's true gems.

“Great Surfing!”
Reviewed February 3, 2012

It was my first visit to Narragansett. I parked along the beach and watched the surfers riding the waves. I enjoyed my visit. I cannot wait to come back.

“Fun nice place to people watch”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

I love the beach and I do like this beach. It's great to go to during the day or night. The one drawback is that they charge for this beach. It's not a huge beach but clean. At night if you go it's nice to watch the surfers.

“Excellent swimming with sandy beach”
Reviewed January 28, 2012

This is open Atlantic waters with fine sand, wind and lots of sun. Sometimes the waves are high enough for surfing. Plenty of parking ($$$). The traffic can be heavy on the roads leading to it. Public transportation is sparse.
