My husband and I have stayed at the Pleasant View Inn for approximately 18 years. We first went there as newlyweds and have enjoyed many wonderful visits since. The accommodations, the ocean view, and the helpful and friendly staff have made us feel very comfortable there. For us it has become a special place to unwind and relax and it continues to make special memories for us.

This is the third year my husband and I have stayed at the PV Inn. We were introduced to it by friends from upstate NY. Imagine that! We meet our friends there every year now and stay for three days and have a hard time leaving. Debbie (sp?) who was our server in the Upper Hatch was awesome! What a Gem! PV Inn, you have a trasure in her. We looked forward to seeing her when we went to the dining room. Kudos to you. Keep up th e good work! Suzi

We just got back from a 3 day trip 7/26-7/29/04. The Pleasant View Inn bills itself as a "full service oceanside resort," but I think that is a little overstated. The standard room we stayed in was small and dark, with no phone, no clock, no shampoo and no hair dryer. The oceanfront rooms looked about the same size, just sunnier. Unless you want to rent them, there are no beach towels, umbrellas or chairs available on the beach.
We picked this inn because it is directly on the beach, which it is, but unfortunately it is a narrow strip, somewhat rocky, and when the tide came in, much of the beach by the hotel shrank. Also the ocean was pretty choppy - good for surfing, but less relaxing if you have younger kids. The outdoor pool is heated, though small.
Overall, the inn was very crowded as well. Though the food at the restaurant was quite good, there was often a wait for a table and service, though friendly, was slow.
The Misquamicut Beach consists of a long strip with the state beach section, followed by a small assortment of motels and inns, with a few fast food type places to eat. There is a small area with a kids arcade, minigolf, etc, but you can't walk there comfortably from the inn with young kids (very short drive though). It seems like a better place to go for a day trip. Compared to the other motel type places on Atlantic Avenue, Pleasant View probably is the nicest with the most amenities, but I think we'll keep looking elsewhere for our ideal beach town.

I stayed at the Pleasant View Inn 7/31 - 8/3 just for an extended weekend. It is a great place to go if you love being on the ocean. The rooms are on the small side but are clean & the view from the balcony is just wonderful. The staff is very friendly, housedeeping is excellent and both of the restaurants were good. The prices are a little high - but who wants to leave the beach while there?? The only downside was the amount of noisy children staying there - but it is promoted as a family resort. I have stayed the past four year and will go again next year!!

The Pleasant View Inn at Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island, is a resort hotel catering to families. Amenities include a private beach, heated swimming pool, air-conditioned rooms, two on-site restaurants, an exercise room with Nautilus equipment and a small game room. The beach is literally steps away, down a long metal staircase that bridges a rocky sea wall. The surf is active, providing plenty of waves and opportunities for boogie boarding, body surfing, etc. Like many New England beaches, the sand composition tends to be dominated by small pebbles with some larger stones. If you are tempted to wade into the surf, beach shoes are highly recommended. The beach can become crowded; most all-day Pleasant View beachgoers claim their spots in the early morning. The Pleasant View staff maintains the beach, so discarded trash is not a common sight except for the inevitable flotsam that arrives with the tides. There is also a lifeguard on duty during daylight hours. The more expensive rooms at the Pleasant View face the ocean and include small balconies that can comfortably accommodate two or three individuals. Other rooms face the pool area and parking lot.All ocean-facing rooms offer excellent views, but the third-floor rooms provide the best vistas. If you choose a third-floor room, be prepared to haul your belongings up several flights of stairs. If you are in less than satisfactory physical shape, you may find this daunting. There are no elevators at the Pleasant View. The rooms are clean and functional, but not fancy. Every room includes a color television with a good cable channel selection. Bathrooms are small, but clean. It is important to point out that there are no telephones in the rooms. Unless you bring a portable cellular telephone, youll need to use the first-floor pay telephones to make calls. While the rooms themselves are air conditioned, the rest of the hotel is not. Most of the time this isnt a problem since the ocean breezes are more than sufficient to keep the hotel cool. On hot, humid days when the air is still, however, the restaurants, lobby and game room can become uncomfortable. For casual dining, the Pleasant View offers the Upper Hatch lounge, which is open throughout the day and evening. The formal restaurant begins serving at 6PM. The menus are varied and include steak, lobster, salads and more. During our visit, we found the food to be outstanding. The marinated Black Angus New York strip steak was deliciously prepared. A large house salad with salmon or grilled chicken was also a big hit. The childrens menu includes hamburgers, chicken fingers, fish and chips, hot dogs and grilled cheese. When youve had your fill of salt water, the heated pool is a refreshing change of pace. The pool is not large and has a maximum depth of only five feet, but, like other areas of the Pleasant View Inn, it is well maintained. The posted sign states that the pool closes at 6PM, but we saw guests enjoying the warm waters well into the night. The Pleasant View Inn is one of the best family destinations along the Connecticut/Rhode Island coast. It doesnt offer an opulent Hilton/Marriott experience with plush carpets and gleaming brass. On the contrary, the Pleasant View Inn is a little rustic and frayed around the edges, thanks to the heavy guest traffic and an endless battle with salt spray. Appearances notwithstanding, the Pleasant View radiates genuine warmth with a relaxed, down-to-earth atmosphere. The Pleasant View Inn is a friendly, unpretentious family destination located close to all Misquamicut attractions. The popularity of the Pleasant View Inn demands that you book early, especially if you want an ocean-facing room. Generally speaking, you must reserve by March 1 to ensure an ocean-facing room the following summer. People occasionally cancel, however, so it pays to call anyway, regardless of the month.Pleasant View Inn, 65 Atlantic Ave, Misquamicut Beach, Westerly, RI 02891; tel 401-348-8200; ...

We (the kids and I) stayed there for 3 nights. By the end of the 3rd night we were ready to go home. Room was a little cramped, pool was packed, beach was empty. The restaurant served great food, service could have been a little faster. I would say that the Pleasant View is the quietest and cleanest of all the Hotels in that area. I would go again.
