My wife and I stayed one night here and it was fantastic. The room/suite was huge! There were two TVs, one in the bedroom area and one in the livingroom/kitchen area. Very nice. Lots of space to spread out. I used the fitness room which was very nice. And the breakfast in the morning was very good.

We knew that breakfast was included in our stay, but dinner (Mon-Thurs) was a surprise. I was doubtful about being able to eat, but foods were kept very separate and the kitchen staff were all very accommodating, knowledgeable and pleasant. I was able to eat breakfast sausage, several kinds of scrambled eggs (varied by the day) and even egg, cheese and ham or sausage breakfast sandwiches (prepared for me without the bread!). Dinner included a small, but very fresh, salad bar with Ken’s dressings and no croutons. I was able to eat 3 out of 4 nights (pulled pork with corn tortillas, hamburgers no bun and chicken cutlets). The staff was happy to show me food packaging with ingredient lists. Coffee, decaf and tea were available any time. Dinner included red or white wine. All a happy surprise and over the course of five days I didn’t get sick once.

Stayed one night mid-week, family of four. Got the one-bedroom suite at AAA rate. Hotel is only a few months old. Nothing beats staying in a new hotel after they've had enough time to work out the kinks. Room was spacious, bed was comfortable, good water pressure, two flat-screen TVs, free wi-fi, great kitchenette. All 2-bed rooms were sold out, but no problem - my two teenage kids slept in the living room section - one on the pull-out bed, the other on a roll-away bed (no charge). Free breakfast & dinner are tasty. The dinner (stuffed peppers, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, veggies) was such a big hit with my kids that didn't want to go out to a restaurant. They wanted to eat at the hotel, then watch TV back in the room, which allowed my wife and I to get a rare dinner out by ourselves! This hotel is hands down the best value in the Newport area, considering the price and the free parking & food. Only a few minor negatives: indoor pool was not warm enough, & no jacuzzi - I was told that all new HW Suites must be energy-efficient. Also - Distance to Newport is about a 10-min drive, but you can use the hotel shuttle ($3 pp each way), or better yet, bring bicycles (parking is difficult in Newport).

For the price point this is a wonderful hotel!! Is it a Fairmont? No. But if you need a comfortable, clean, quiet place to relax while in Newport and don't mind being away from the touristy part of the town - this is a great alternative. There is a breakfast each morning that varies a little bit (one day bacon and small cheddar omelets - another day was sausage, scrambled eggs, and potato patties). They have a happy hour with wine and beer and during the week (M-Th I believe) there is a dinner (one night they served Italian stuffed shells and another night shredded pork with rice and beans along with soft taco fixings). There is an indoor pool, small patio area in the back, gym, and LAUNDRY ROOM (yay). The room itself was very clean, large, and comfortable - great place and would definitely, definitely stay again :-)

Room Tip: I was traveling alone and wanted a quiet room - which the hotel gladly accommodated.

The hotel is pretty nice for the price, given the average high price around the area during summer, although the area is indeed some distance (2-3 miles) from the core tourist area. The master bed in the shotgun one-bedroom suite was nicely shielded from the living area where the sofa bed was, so it was pretty good if you want some privacy between the master bed and sofa-bed within a one-bedroom suite. The master bed and sofa bed were both reasonably comfortable. The hair blower was the cleanest I've ever seen in any hotel. The kitchen and utensils are all in good shape. The minor issues we had with the hotel were the following: 1) the hotel was probably newly renovated, therefore the room still smelled heavily of mortar and other construction material. We had to open the door to get some fresh air; 2) The air conditioning was heavily focusing around the master bed, and because the privacy of master bed area also caused isolation, the rest of suite was of obviously higher temperature comparing the master bed area; 3) The meals served were not as good or diversified as we had in Oakland CA; 4) The rooms were still not ready when we arrived at 3pm. We waited until 3:20pm for our room to be ready. All minor though.
