“A little place, but a lot of fun and great food!”
Reviewed May 20, 2011

We were on our tour of the New England states when a friend recommended this spot for a Lobster Roll and we weren't disappointed with that recommendation. There is plenty of parking in the front, you order at the cash register and then just choose your seat. In just a few minutes the server will bring your order to you . . . delightful food. We mostly enjoyed the calamari and lobster roll, but other things looked great as well. It is always best to have a recommendation when you are the stranger in town, and we were glad we had this one.

“great place”
Reviewed May 8, 2011

If you want excellent food without the exoensive decor this is the place to go. Went there on a reccomendation from a motel owner and we were very pleased. Best place in Newport or Middletown, Rhode Island.

“The locals love it so you KNOW it's really good!”
Reviewed November 26, 2010

I've made a point of eating at Anthony's at least once on every visit to Newport since 2008, after a recommendation from one of the nearby wineries who assured me that this is where the locals go rather than a "tourist" place. It's not fancy; you queue up to order and pay for your food, then seat yourself and wait for the food to be rought to you. An on-site fresh fish store assures you that the seafood is top-notch, so have no qualms about ordering something like clams on the half shell. The whole-belly clams are the best. Wine and beer are available. The service is very friendly indeed, and you can't beat the prices. Parking is also easy, unlike at some of the restaurants in Newport.

“OK food, wouldn't go back”
Reviewed October 30, 2010

We expected something better. This is an order at the counter restaurant and they bring your food out to you. Has a fast food atmosphere. The food was OK, that atmosphere was not that great. I probably wouldn't go back.

“The best soup I've ever eaten”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

The Portuguese fish chowder is the best soup I have ever eaten. A large bowl and 3 clam cakes can full anyone up. The prices are good. My soup and clam cakes were about 7 dollars.
Well definitely go here every time I am in Newport.
