Spent the July 4th weekend at the Sea Whale. Very well run and clean motel with a great location. My wife and I did morning runs right out the door either over to Newport along the Cliff Walk or through Middleton on Tukerman Ave. We spent most afternoons at the beach, Third Beach being our favorite. After a day at the beach we'd grab takeout from the Atlantic Grille or Anthony's and enjoy a seafood feast on the picnic tables at the Sea Whale as the sun set on Easton Pond. Perfection!

Room Tip: Rooms on second level have shared deck and great views of Easton Pond. Wel worth extra $.

We stayed at this hotel June 6, 2013, based on good reviews. The reviews were correct. Very friendly and helpful lady runs the place, and she takes pride in ownership. Gorgeous flower baskets hung in the back. Clean rooms, fridge, microwave, tea and coffee. Restaurants, tavern, gas station, etc. within easy walking distance. Right on the road through town, but didn't hear any traffic noise at night. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony reading and sipping tea watching the swans in Easton Pond. Great stay.

We stayed 3 nights, May 2013. We had a deck level room. The deck would have been lovely had the weather been better. The room itself had a comfortable Queen bed with a pullout sofa (not used). There was a small table and 2 chairs, a microwave and a small refrigerator. Plenty of space for 2 people, would have been a bit tight for 4. The TV was an older full bodied model. Everything worked.

The bathroom was on the small side. No bench space for toiletries, door very close to toilet. Plenty of towels and dispenser unit in tub/shower for shampoo, conditioner and body soap. Very clean and well maintained.

Although the hotel is close to the road, we slept soundly all three nights. The traffic noise was not a disruption and we normally do not have traffic noise near our house. Although the walls are not noise proof we were not disturbed by other guests and the hotel was fully booked. This is the type of place where guests seem to be considerate and rowdy/party types would not find this place attractive. Our balcony overlooked the reservoir was was lovely to watch in the evening and in the morning. The Wifi worked , the lighting in the room was good, the water pressure was good with plenty of hot water.

The owners were always available and had great recommendations. There is a gas station very close with the most affordable gas we saw on our trip. Anthony's seafood and Flo's are a quick 5 minute drive away. Newport is a 10 minute drive.

I would recommend this place to anybody wanting to stay close and conveniently to Newport.

Room Tip: Balcony is better

I come to this motel every year. It is in walking distance to the Atlantic Beach Club, bars, restaurants, and a gas station. It's enough of out the way from downtown Newport, but close enough to the beach. If you stay, the deck level is worth the extra money to be able to sit and watch the sunset over the view with a glass of wine.

We booked late for the Newport Marathon and this was the only place we could book a room close to the start/finish line and we weren't sure what we would find. It turned out to be just fine. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The property is very attractive and well-maintained with a lovely view of Easton Pond. We even loved the two little bunnies who were on the lawn each evening! We appreciated the lawn chairs, especially the ones right outside our door. There were some very good restaurants within walking distance as well as the beach. I would definitely stay here again.

I love different places to stay when traveling other than the typical chain motel. While in the area, we decided to stay at the Sea Whale based on the previous reviews. We didn't get there as early as we wanted, so weren't able to enjoy the sunset over the water. It was nice, though, to sit outside and enjoy the calm on a nice evening. The room was large and the bed comfortable. The bath was small but considering the age of the property, very nicely kept. It was also MUCH cheaper than staying in Newport and was only a short drive. We would stay there again if we ever return to the area!
