i got the bid for this hotel with a great price on priceline. I went there to celebrate my birthday with my parents. We got a suit, which made it so easy for me and my parents. We enjoyed the pool and the open-air spa. The location is also great with walking distance to the beach, restaurant and ocean cliff walk. The hotel is neat, clean and the bed is comfortable. All in all, great experience with awesome value.

Stayed here for 2 nights during a 2 week tour around N.E and found this to be the poorist of all the hotels we stayed in.The hotel itself was nice with the bedrooms furnished to a high standard, fridge, microwave and coffee machine were all nice touches. What let the hotel down though was the coldness and lack of friendliness of the staff at reception. We were the only two checking in but felt rushed as though we were at the front of a long queue.Pictures of the hotel in the Virgin brochure are also misleading in that it does'nt stand all alone on the beach but is surrounded by other buildings and to get to the beach you have to cross a busy road and all rooms are stated as having either sea view or views of a lake, our room looked out onto the back of a restaurant. We asked at reception for some tourist info but they had none and the only local map they had of the area was 2 years old so we had to get all this in the town, which is a positive point as it is really nice to walk around.Lovely harbour front, lots of shops and for food highly recommend the Red Parrot pub, service and food is excellent. All in all Newport is a nice town but would probably stay elsewhere.

We arrive all the way from Italy to find a cold welcome and a hotel which is actually a Motel. We found the front office girls are chilled like we were in North pole, not having any idea of customer service and in general we found Newport completely unfit to receive overseas visitors. After a long wait in the lobby which looks like a freezer with bad smells from the kitchen, we must carry all of our heavy luggage to the other building across the busy road. No help at check-in nor at check-out I carried my bags like a mule for 400 bucks a day !
Well appointed suite but at this hotel the service does not exist. And they advertise to be in Newport, while you need 45 minutes hard uphill walk or a cab to reach the town (taxis in Newport are funny and very few, one day we waited half an hour and of course the front desk staff just ignored the problem, just didn't care). The so called beach is at 5 minutes walk after crossing a dangerous big road, there are no loungers or umbrellas and it is not appealing like the beaches we have in Italy at all, we found it horrible ! The hotel pool is small full of inpolite children shouting without their parents saying a word. So overall , I do not recommend this so called hotel which has insulting high rates like 400 usd dollars a night for four people excluding breakfast. Ah, last but not the least there were drilling noisy works near the hotel, it was august, peak season, this is the way in Newport they do tourism ?

The hotel was empty so we upgraded to one of the new suites in the new building for next to nothing. VERY nice room with beautiful bathroom and nice separate sleeping and sitting rooms. Even had a washer/dryer which was nice so we could dry our stuff after slipping into the roof-top jacuzzi--nice!! Very quiet since it was December. Away from downtown Newport so very quiet since off-season, but everything is within a 10 min drive max. Will be visiting again!

My daughter and I went to visit Newport during the off season and found the name of this hotel along with the advertised photographs to be intriguing. The truth was very different. While we were able to get a great rate through Priceline, the room left a whole lot to be desired, the pool was across the street, the lobby was not cozy and there were few overall comforts. If you are willing to experience a cross between an decent motel and an almost updated hotel, this is the place for you. I did appreciate the free web connection in my room.

We have completely renovated the entire hotel and added an all suites building directly across from the historic hotel.

The rooms in the historic hotel feature new furniture, bedding with imported linens and duvets, 37” flat panel LCD televisions, MP3 players with iPod docking stations, new carpet, wallpaper, draperies, wood blinds, lighting and artwork. All of our rooms receive Direct TV with HD satellite programming. Bathrooms are furnished with white Carrera marble floors, wooden vanities with granite tops, modern lighting, new mirrors, and increased storage space for guest amenities.

The 26 suites in our suites building have water views, experienced through floor-to-ceiling windows and juliet balconies in the living room and master bedroom. Modern kitchens feature granite countertops, upscale stainless steel appliances, wood floors, and washer/dryers. Oversized baths contain walls of glass overlooking the water, floors, tub and shower surrounds finished in rich white Carrera marble, deep soaking whirlpool tubs, and residential wood vanities with granite tops.

Our hotel offers a full-service restaurant, a workout room with state-of-the-art equipment, spa facilities with the option for in-room massages by appointment, an indoor pool and hot tub, and a rooftop hot tub and firepit. Our guests can also take advantage of our private beach cabanas at Newport Beach. It is true that the amenities are split between our two buildings, but we feel that these amenities far exceed the available options at a Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn Express.

We hope that you will join us again at the Newport Beach Hotel & Suites.

We stayed in the newly built "suites" part of the hotel. The suite was huge: 2 BR, 2 bath with kitchen, laundry, and a nice living room. It was clean with great facilities. The pool is small, but who needs it when you are <100 yards from Easton ("First") Beach? We even had a view of the fireworks over Newport from the master bed room. The only niggle: there was some sort of fenced dumpster or storage area (perhaps both?) behind the suites building and workers were a bit loud opening the gates. But that only takes this from an A++ to an A+ stay. We'll be back next year, I hope!
