Description: Luigi's Gourmet Express & Restaurant has been a Johnston, RI institution since 1971. We offer delicious Italian cuisine from our treasured family recipes passed down through generations. All of our breads and desserts are baked on premise. House specialties include the Veal & Chicken Parmigiana as well as many beef, pork, seafood and, of course, pasta entrees. We recently added Brick Oven Pizza and Gourmet Burgers to our menu. There is truly something that anyone can enjoy on our menu! We have a great wine list as well as many craft beers on draft. Our Gourmet Express offers a great variety of prepared foods, soups, salads, sandwiches, pizza and much more for café dining or take out. Our catering and banquet division can handle any of your entertaining needs either on premise or at an off site location. The Battista Family thanks you for showing an interest in Luigi's and invites you to "Come to Luigi's, where our family will treat your family like... family!"

“Good food, large quantities with excellent quality”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

This Italian restaurant has a large menu, great choices and a nice heart healthy diet conscience menu that they've added which is not usually found in an italian eatery. We have taken numerous guests over the years to this restaurant and what I can say is the food is very well prepared, and always take some home. A lot of places give large portions but quality is lacking, this is not the case with this place.

Nice deli as well.

“A lot of hipe, food fell shot of the mark!”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

After reading prior reviews I was ready to have a excellent meal that would be reasonably priced, Luigl's just failed to hit the mark of anything more than an average meal that was overpriced.
I ordered one of the meals that other reviewers stated was the best choice and you wouldn't be disappointed, well, I was disappointed! The meal in question was salmon that had a bourbon glaze and ritz crackers crumbs layered on top. The sides veggies of broccoli, carrots, and green beans, second side was a salad.
The salmon came layered in mushy ritz crackers with veggies that had spent too much being steamed so they were tasteless. The sauce used for the salmon was heavy handed so it tasted sickly sweet. The salmon itself was tender and once I got all the stuff off it, had a nice flavor.
My dining partner felt her meal was average and the service a tad slow. The restaurant is very busy and seems to cater to folks of the Italian descent. The name of the restaurant is well suited to the menu. Italian food is the cornerstone of of the menu choices.

“Consistently good food”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I have eaten dinner here several times and it has always been excellent. Every guest has enjoyed it as well. The servings are more than generous and the menu is interesting. I particularly recommend the pecan-crusted salmon in maple glaze. The side of vegetables could be a little tastier. The small rlls served before the meal are very good. My only regret is that they stopped serving the roasted garlic cloves in olive oil dip for the bread - it was the best.

“Not that great but not much to choose from..”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

Not sure what all the hubbub is about Luigi's..I am an Italian citizen and frequent Italy because I have a home there. I would not consider there "Sit down" part of the restaurant that great. I would rather see you go to Pinelli's in Warwick for the same kind of food but better. Next door at the express the dishes are better but still not Excellent. You can pick and choose some decent dishes at express but can't recommend Luigi's.
