I stayed at the Bay Voyage in late April, 2011. I had a reservation for 2 nights, but left after one. The hotel rooms are depressing, dated and dark. For a location by the coast line, the inside feels like you are staying in a chain hotel in a strip mall (or worse). The room I had was a "suite" which meant a tiny room separated off from a small living room. The decor was dark and dated....picture an old fashioned dark bedspread, rather than new down covers...something every hotel, including Crowne Plaza's, Hyatts, Raddisson's etc., all have now. The hallways smelled dank and musty. There was no food served the day I was there. It was all very depressing, and nothing like what I expected from a hotel in this location or from what it looks like on the outside. Extremely disappointing.

My parents let us use their time share at this property. It is nice but it is not what the say it is. We got a shock finding out how tiny this unit was. We have stayed at time shares all over the country. The room we were in was half the size of what we expected. We also expected a kitchen. Thankfully we only stayed two nights. We did not expect to go out to eat. Since we are from Providence we did find a nice hole in the wall to get pizza, fish and Chips. It is the Jamestown House of Pizza. We walked down to the center of the village along the bay which was fun the kids had a great time throwing stones into the water and we walked and watched them. When we walked back we almost ran back since the sun went down and it started getting chilly. Ever since we stayed their now we go to Jamestown in the spring and fall to get fish and chips and walk along the beach and the docks.

We chose this property on the advice of friend even though we had reservations after reading previous review on this site.

First, let me say the staff was excellent, very friendly and extremely helpful. Every request was cheerfully executed promptly. The location of our room was excellent. We had a balcony with very comfortable furniture (more on that later) and an excellent view of the bay and Newport.

We stayed for six nights which we later discovered was too long. Jamestown has a small commercial district and beautiful countryside. All of which can be covered in two days. In hidnsight one night would have been sufficient. This is in part because of the excessive toll charged on the Jamestown Bridge. $4.00 each way for a total of $8.00 a day is a bit much.

The Inn is old and quaint and it is being remodeled. The suite, one bedroom, is quite small. Smaller than what you would find at a normal suite hotel. The bedroom was so tiny it could only accomodate a small dresser (four drawers) and that was not sufficient for two people staying six nights. There was no other facility for clothes other than the closet and that was located in the living area of the suite. There was a "kitchen" against one wall of the suite that included a bar sink, microwave and standard hotel fridge. This was not adequate for any preparation of food for in-room dining other than a cold breakfast or perhaps a snack in the evening. The freezer was only large enough for ice trays and these were not provided. dishes, glasses, cups, utensils and some pans were provided. I don't know what you would use the pans for as there was no stove top or oven and I'm inclined not to place anything metal in a microwave. There was also a coffee pot, toaster and blender in one of the cabinets. However, the counter top was very crowded if you had the coffe pot and toaster out at the same time.

The bed, it was either a large double or small queen, was very comfortable. However, it was very difficult to get to if you were sleeping next to the window because there was only a small space between the dresser and foot of the bed. You had to turn sideways to get between the two. The bed was the only comfortable furniture in the suite except for the patio furniture. The sofa, a sleeper sofa, was very uncomfortable and had a sway in the middle so that if you sat at either end you eventually found yourself in the middle. The chairs were also uncomfortable with very little cushion. We spent quite a bit of time on the patio using the patio furniture. For this we were fortunate that their was only one day of inclement weather. We noticed the occupants of several other rooms below us doing the same thing.

The bathroom was also quite small but adequate. The shower was excellent.

One last comment about the room was the lighting. It was excellent for a romantic interlude but very bad for reading. Each morning a USA Today was delivered to our room. However the light was so poor in the suite it could not be read. Once again, we retreated to our patio to read the morning paper.

We did not use the restaurant facilities. The prices seemed quite high considering all the places availabe to eat in town, with reasonable prices, which you could walk to in less than 15 minutes.

This is a very nice property for a 1 or 2 night stay WITHOUT children. I cannot imagine anymore than two people in one of these suites and certainly not children.

It was a good value for the price we paid but it was the off season. It is not a good value for in-season rates. I would recommend this property to a friend under certain circumstances.

Would we stay here again? Possibly, depending on time of year but not for more than 2 nights.

Although we seldom turned on the TV we did note that it was not a flat screen that is normally found in all hotelsthese days.

Booked blindly through discount site so we were concerned after reading negative reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. Pros: Our suite was clean, well appointed and perfect for adults with kids, Beautiful setting directly on the waterfront. We suffered no unpleasant noise or smell as others had reported and enjoyed the morning coffee and rolls, computer access and Wii playstation. Cons: If you are there to visit Newport, although it's easy access, be aware of the $8 round trip toll to cross the bridge.

Contrary to reviews of this hotel we had a dellightful experience. The room was more than adequate. The kitchen is really a micro wave and frig but we do not travel to cook.
And when you are so near to so many good restaurants why would you want to?
The room was cleaan, comfy and was refreshed midweek.
The staff answered our every need quickly and pleasantly. It has the atmosphere of a B & B run by a close knit family rather than an indifferent hotel staff.
The food was wonderful. The hotel overlooks a lovely bay and you dine looking out over it. Nearby our great restaurants including A Slice of Heaven (pastries that are to die for)
Chopmist Charlies and Tricia's. Also nearby is a gift shop featuring all Made in America pottery, jewelry and artwork with great prices. Five minutes later you are over the bridge to Newport. Sure it is a toll road but guess what? Someone has to maintain it. And Newport needs pages of it's own. Good buy there is the Historical membership that allows you into alll the mansions. Price for a couple is $75 and good for a year.
I will rebook this hotel and meander this lovely island again.

We are two couples who jointly own timeshares. When we arrived, we were told there were no rooms on the bay side of the hotel, so we were stuck on the third floor in a (not very nice) suite with a view of the house across the street. The couple sleeping in the bedroom had to go into the living room/sofabed area to use the bathroom, waking everyone up in the process. The couple sleeping in the living room area had no place to hang clothes, no place to put suitcases or store clothes, no mirror. The toilet kept breaking, and although someone came up and "fixed" it, we ended up jerryrigging it many times during the week. Be aware that there's a $4 fee every time you want to cross the bridge, so a trip to Newport for dinner will be an extra $8. We never ate a meal at the Bay Voyage, as it was very expensive. The brunch would have been our favorite thing to try, and that was $32.95 per person. And all the people writing reviews that say the place smells? Very true--the halls smelled like cabbage, the elevator and first floor smelled like Raid. The least favorite place we've stayed in our timeshare experience, which is pretty extensive.

We stayed in here July 2010 and found it to be clean and nice, albeit pricey...the restaurant has great food and so-so service. They had a wedding when we were there the first night so we had to listen to the party sing karaoke during our dinner.

It's VERY convenient to Newport and we loved that, it's quiet and romantic if you make it that way. Close to ctr of Jamestown and that is convenient.

Would stay again if we can get a better rate...
