The Fantastic Umbrella Factory is like a step back to the 70's, when there were hippies and communes. Great shopping, unique gifts, fun place to visit for the whole family! Animals to see and garden plants for sale. Bring a lunch or try the restaurant.

I came here with a friend and the kids that she baby sits for. The kids loved it and we had a great time as well. There are animals the kids can interact with but be careful of the emu! The bamboo maze is really beautiful. I went in the winter which doesn't do it much justice, I would like to go back in the better weather. There are cute little shops that people rent out, lots of unique items to be found. There was an Art space upstairs. I didn't eat there but the food smelled really good. If you are in the area and have kids I would defiantly check it out!

Thirty minutes was no where near enough time to discover all that is in this charming gift shop and more. There are several separate shops and a cafe. I visited the import store and found unique jewelry from around the world as well as crafts and clothing. I will return with my son to explore the African drums and other instruments. In December 2012 an art gallery opened and I indulged on a handmade silk and rayon dress for well under $100. Have to go back to see more especially in the summer when the gardens are in bloom.

Looking for something other than the beach? Look no further. This former umbrelllas factory has beautiful grounds that include a bambo "forest", flowering plants and water gardens. In addition to that beauty there are several ducks and chickens throught the grounds. For the shopper there are several little shops to spend time wandering through. There is even a place to sit, relax and enjoy a light meal. We went on a rainy day and had a fun time for several hours.

The Umbrella Factory is a nice respite from the beaches of Southern RI. There are ducks and chickens sharing the walks with people and there are several emus. The flowers and plants are amazing. There are several shops to browse thru, they contain what seemed to me to be the type of goods one could buy on an island in the Caribbean. All in all, it is a nice place to visit for a few hours.
